    Random Trivia things

I just finished off some bread and was giggling over the little plastic u shaped connector.

Not sure if anyone knows, but they are a different color for each day of the week that bread gets delivered. I used to think it was random coloring, but its actually a way to identify which day of the week the bread was released!

My second piece of trivia is the date on milk cartons. Believe it or not that is all the work of Al Capone. Back in his day he was frustrated that all the little ol italian ladies in Chicago were getting old milk, and he wanted a federal mandate for all milk distributors to supply a "good until" date. Sure enough it went through fairly quickly!

Thats all I got for now....I'll think up some more random stuff soon.

Oh! GreenPeace.org has a 25$ mercury poisoning test if anyone is interested.

Those plastic bread ties are the same material used in prosthetic limbs. At least they used to be back when I was in junior high (we collected them for donation).

women who are golddiggers. (marrying a guy for his money)

Golddiggers came from people who used to wait until bodies were buried then dig them up and mine their gold teeth. nice huh? so if you see a trophy wife, picture her digging up bodies for golden teeth...heheh makes me giggle like a school boy

I've heard this before. I've always wanted to decode the system, but I suspect the different bakery's and bread producers have different color systems, AND, they may even switch them up periodically, and I don't hit the supermarket often enough to bother keeping track. LOL.

BTW, out of curiousity, Am I the only freak here who will fish around and grab items from the back of the coolers and shelves to get the items that are 'newer'? It's easy with milk, because you can read the "sell by" date on the cartons. But I do it with a lot of perishable items, like meats, drinks, and occasionally even bottled and canned good because I have heard that shelve stockers will put out the oldest stuff in front and on top so that it sells first.

they dont switch them up and they all use the same system
if they switched them up then what would be the point of the system? nobody would know how it works...

Its the first letter of the color in alphabetic order so for Monday -> Friday
    Blue
    Green
    Red
    White
    Yellow
    AFAIK

You probably all know this one but...No piece of square dry paper can be folded more than 7 times in half!

Depends on how big the piece is.

Nope size doesn't matter, try it even with a sheet the size of a football pitch it could only be folded 7 times, saw them do that on tv once, thought no way but yeah rightly enough only folded 7 times

I don't see why it couldn't be folded as many times as it needs to be as long as the paper length exceeds the height by a certain amount. That's the limiting factor - the height of the bulbous mass you build up, and the radius around the fold. As long as you have sufficiently thin material, and a sufficiently large initial area, you should be able to, right?

    It's simple physics.

    agreed.
I think it has a lot to do with the thickness of the paper...
thicker water color matte paper might only fold 5 times, but tissue paper might be able to fold 10 times....also, with a hydrolic press anything is possible...of if your a grip guru

I know this is probably more common than uncommon.

Christians celebrity Jesus's birthday on Christmas Day (in Dec) not because he was born then, but because its close to Hanukah and because Christians were persecuted back in teh day they didn't want to be identified by celebrating on his true birthday
