The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Not got a squat rack, want to work legs, any ideas?

I don't have a squat rack at the moment(not got much money), so I'm wondering what other exercises I can do to work my legs, using just a pair of Dumbells and a Barbell(this will go to 100lbs but it means I have to use the weights off my dumbells, so I'd rather use dumbells if possible).

Ok, how much weight should I use on my dumbells for lunges? I use 30lb for curls if that's any help.

You have to determine that for yourself.

Reading enough of his posts has told me, no, it wasn't a joke.

Don't ask for a lighter load. Ask for a stronger back.

    Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. At some point in your lifting career (assuming you're planning on getting reasonably strong and big), you're going to have to accept that most people think you are some kind of freak." -Sensei

If I were to start from scratch as a young 13 year old again, I would do every press, squat, and perhaps deadlifts, for my entire career with chains. -- Dan John

Why? do you think that's too light? Please remember i've only being lifting for just over 3 months. As for the Ground Up PDF that MixmasterNash posted, isn't that an olympic lift? And also, won't that kill my back? As for joining a gym, I'm working on it, I just don't have a lot of money right now.

Nick, I understand you've gotta be screwing with us to ask things like this, but just in case you really are this clueless...

Deeder was asking you if it was a joke because, after you asked how much to do lunges with, you said:

I use 30lb for curls if that's any help.
Long story short, it's not any help. You're curling with your bicep, and lunging with your legs.

Don't ask for a lighter load. Ask for a stronger back.

True, I just thought a general idea of strength in my arms might give an idea of strength in my legs(as an overall diea of strength).........so you didn't suggest anything immensely heavy, or light. Sorry if it seemed a stupid suggestion.

They look good. If I held a dumbell in each hand they'd be highly effective.

Don't do hindu squats. There's evidence that they will screw up proper squat form. Learn how to squat properly first.
