The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

How much weight lifted during a push up?

What % of your weight do you lift during a push up?

    I've read anywhere from 25% to 60%.

    Anyone?

Well I only have one scale and when I do a push up on it with both of my hands flat on each side is says roughly 109lbs. That would mean roughly 70% of my weight. I'm gonna try to do it with 2 scales when KarateBoy gets his.

The reason why I'm asking this is that not too long ago I was doing push ups with my 50lbs nephew on my back and was wondering how much weight I was lifting. Thanks for input guys.

Hmmm... Only problem with all this is that I believe the weight on your hands would change as your position changes. So unless you could do a real slow pushup with no acceleration (obviously some to get you moving) then there's no real way of knowing

Yep. You'll have to watch the scales as you move through the pivot angle made by your feet (or your knees, if you're doing girlie pushups... )

    Id just like to add.
I love handstand pushups. They are awseome! Uses all your bodyweight for the pushup. (however dont work your chest then, just your shoulders)

Better yet do a press up with all your body in the air (but staying in a chest push up position).
    That will do some burning!

154's not all that heavy for a female BB. I know one who competed at 180. Even before I trained, I wasn't all that big at 150 something pounds.

Height is the deal here and also body fat.

    You're 5'8 154. Thats not bad even for a guy's measurement.

But a girl lets say 5'1-2 at 155 will look quite round.

I'm glad goodwinner didn't take me seriously.

Much love for the round ladies lol

    You're a lucky guy. 5'6.5 at 154 is a good girls weight.

I'm 5'6 myself, Cheers. Exactly the same centimeter measurement too.

EDIT: You're in UK. No wonder you have no problems getting taller girls. I lived in europe for most of my life then moved to US. Women here tend to be a bit more selective as far as height goes. Well not all of them, but most of the ones under 200lbs lol. Not complaining though, college is a great place ;-)
