    Cheers bud,

Dumbell squats by my side I found to be very awkward with the bigger dumbells, because they just clunk next to the legs and probably hinder the movement. Next time I do them I will use my bar straps so I can go a lot heavier!

Yeah, that's why I don't like them. I much prefer goblet squats in that case with a heavier DB or KB.

Goblet squats do look interesting, may give them a go one day. Need to include more dumbell work in my sessions overall really!

    Session 13/01/14
    *walk 0.7 mile to gym*

    A quick session required.
Maybe arms and chest but see what's available at gym. Mondays are manic!

    *shoulder rotations*

Dumbell bench (first time in years)ll

    10kg's x 10
    10kg's x 10
    22.5kg's x 10
    22.5kg's x 10
    27.5kg's x 10
    27.5kg's x 9
    22.5kg's x 10
    10kg's x 20

*fannying about for dumbells, loads of missing pairs!*

Alternate Dumbell Curl (Strict, no swinging bollocks)

    10kg's x 10
    10kg's x 10
    *these felt hard!*
    17.5kg's x 2 (too heavy)
    10kg x 10
    10kg's x 5

    Dumbell shrug

    10kg's x 20
    22.5kg's x 10
    40kg's x 7
40kg's x 3 (stupid heavy for new movement)
    22.5kg x 10
    22.5kg's x 10

    Seated tricep extension machine

*excercise feels really awkward, works the abdominal more than the triceps!*

    18kg x 10
    18kg x 10
    27kg x 10
    32kg x 10 (too heavy)
23kg x 10 (moved arms down a bit, felt better)
    32kg x 10
    18kg x 20

    *finished, short and sweet!*

    *0.7 mile walk home*

    Less than hour in gym.
    Probably 45 minutes.

Notes: I really enjoyed the dumbell benching. Want to keep it up now. Target of one day being able to dumbell bench those 50kg fuckers for 10 reps lol.

I think you'll see some carryover from db benching to barbell benching. I never stuck with db benching too much, should but just never did. Every once in a while I'll throw a quick session together, I always feel beat up more so after dumbbells because of the increased range of motion, always have to be careful going too deep with the dumbbells with my pec issues. Solid quick session.

Mac - lol well that's a target for in a few years time I think, will probably take me a year to get the 40kg's for 10 !

Mark - thanks man, yeah well I'm gonna do my best to keep dumbell benching in the mix, might even try it immediately after barbell benching, which I know will affect my numbers, but well see. Luckily I have had no major injuries like that yet!

Good stuff mate. My biceps suck too but would much rather be good at the big lifts than be a curl jockey! haha

Hit those biceps at least 2-3 times a week, it'll help quite a bit. I think a lot of people shy away from continuous biceps training, but it's gonna only help build a bigger bench press. Just don't curl in the squat rack, haha.

    Mac, Kong, - Cheers guys.

Mark - I didn't realise bicep work could help improve bench press. Cheers for that!

It's a stabilizer muscle in the press, doesn't have a direct carry over to the pressing part, but it has some significance.

Yeah I've noticed that if I train biceps before pressing its a bad idea!
