    Egg Whites Info

Hey All, I know all of us love our eggwhites, and I am tired of buying them in the store, so I figured I would put the info I found on two good companies who sell egg whites. One is in dried form ( cheaper, but some peopel have a problem with this ), and one is in liquid form. I myself have some of the dried ones on the way since they are ridiculously cheap. I put the prices so that you can get an idea about them before searching ( for those whom price is most important, and these are the cheapest I could find )

    cheap, but not as cheap
2 gallons, which makes 28 dozen egg whites
    $56 + max $14 shipping = $70 ( max 35 a gallon, so $ 2.50 a dozen )
    http://www.eggwhitesint.com/

cheapest but in powder form, just add water
2.25lbs, which is the equivalent to 309 large eggwhites, or 25.75 dozen
    $10.99 +$ 4.49 shipping = $15.48 ($ 0.621 per dozen)
    http://www.store.honeyvillegrain.com...ROD&ProdID=578
shipping is flat rate on this site, so its 4.49 for any order, regardless of the size, so you can order a case of 6 2.25 tubs and pay the same price.

So, I am trying out the powdered stuff, and I will give a report in here as to how they turn out, but at 62 cents a dozen, its pretty damn hard to beat. Hope this helps you all out.

Why buy egg whites alone in the first place? A dozen eggs here is 99 cents and its not terribly difficult to seperate the egg from the yolk. When I eat eggs I always do egg whites with a few yokes in there too for taste.

The powdered egg whites are more versatile because they likely don't need to be refrigerated and they would be much more transportable. You could probably put them into shakes and stuff for a different kind of protein. I am always on the lookout for different ways to add variety to my array of protein sources.

Besides, egg whites are not gross. Don't be a sissy.

People (especially students) often post on here asking about portable and cheap sources of protein so they can meet their daily protein objectives.

I cannot see the powdered egg site right now since I am at school.

Do you just add water and mix and then pour in a skillet for cooking or what?

sorry for the late response. The egg whites are going great... fairly easy to mix, easy to throw in shakes... Taste is great.... to an earlier post, i bought the powdered because I like the fact that its cheaper then anything you can get, including eggs in 5 dozen packs... also, i feel better knowing I'm not wasting the yolk.... I would definitely reccomend them.... to mix regularly I use just water... they come with mixing instructions on the can....

Stark, these egg whites are 62 cents for a dozen large eggs worth of eggwhites...so its cheaper, and takes less time then seperating out that many egg whites.... per morning I am at one whole egg and 6-7 egg whites... thats a lot of wasted yolk... Also, you can buy these in a 6 case bulk package, with 4.49 shipping charge.... that makes it around 41-43 cents a dozen.... that is freakin cheap

    http://www.store.honeyvillegrain.com...ROD&ProdID=164

someone should buy this, make a 1500 calorie shake, then let us know how long it took for the comical projectile vomiting. any volunteers?
