The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

His overtraining seems to suit him well. I personally don't think that's overtraining. If he's eating properly and sleeping sufficiently EVERY night then he'll be just fine. He's at a time when his recovery time is incredibly fast and that will help drastically.

Well i started off with a pretty weak schedule, and i didnt feal it was really doing it for me.

    Monday - off
    Tuesday - Arms
    Wednesday - off
    Thursday - Legs & Abdominals
    Friday - off
    Saturday - Back and Chest
    Sunday - off

I Did that for a while and started my new schedule witch i posted above, only difference was that,i alternated between light day and heavy day. Of course i told some guys about it and they said "Light Days.......What,are you having your period?" So now i just do that. Its only been in affect for about two weeks but im liking the results so far.

Hes at a time when his recovery time is fast? Hes 14 man. Why do you think this would be the time he would recover quickly?

Well, for one he's starting puberty, or atleast he should be.

Also, if he was overtraining why is he seeing results? When I overtrained all I did was lose muscle and strength.

IMO I would seperate chest and back. Those are big muscles to hit. Try maybe throwing bi's on chest and tri's on back day. Just throw a few sets at the end of the work out for bi's and tri's and kill the back and chest workout with full intensity.

True, about the fact you can lose muscle and strength if you dramatically overtrain. But whos to say he cant increase more with training less? Hes very young, this IMHO, is too much training.

I think you look excellent and are doing great. My only suggestion would be that with your current routine instead of doing the following for each seven day period:

    Day 1
    Day 2
    Day 3
    Day 1
    Day 2
    Day 3
    Off

    you switch over to:

    Day 1
    Day 2
    Day 3
    Off

and repeat that. All you're doing is adding in one additional rest day. This would be good for you as six days in a row is fairly intense and it will allow you to rest up and heal a little better. You are doing well but you don't want to hurt yourself at such a young age.

Very ripped for your age. Nice work.

I'd do 1 more rest day if I were you. My lifts are PACKED, so I do a 4 day split 2 days, 1 off, 2 days, 2 off. The weekend really lets me recoup and start the next session with a bang. I'd at least do 2 days off... I personally feel so much better after 2 days of rest..

However, I am 22.. and my body probably aches more than yours. I remember at 14 I'd skateboard 7 days a week and destroy my body every time, but it would be ready to go by the next day. So maybe this reasoning doesn't really apply to you.

    Keep up the hard work.
