    Emotional problems=weak workouts?

So recently I was dumped by a girl I truely loved and I have had some emotional problems lately and am pretty sad. I have tried to workout 3 times since this has happend and my strength is just way down. Do you think this is because of the breakup? I also havent been eating as much in the past 3 days.

Do you think its because im depressed that my workouts are horrible? I still have the focused feeling in the gym and dont think about her but still my workouts are bad.

    Please dont flame.

Stress has a HUGE impact on our bodies, so this isn't surprising.

Now go get a bigmac and do some squats.

When you get in the gym, trade your sadness for anger. Your fear for hate. Take it out on the iron and don't look back.

Outside of that, make every effort to get out and be active. Lean on your friends for support. Do anything to get yourself out and doing something other than sitting around and being depressed.

Yes. When my girl dumped me the first time, I remember the weights feeling like they weighed three times as much as they did. Appetite crapped out, too.

Actually, knowing I may be dubbed a sissy, I became "emotional" on one gym visit and had to skip out early.

Time heals all, you'll be alright. Forcing workouts is NOT a bad idea, as Anthony has suggested.

My ex. girl "didn't feel it anymore" after almost two years, then came back after seven months, then "didn't feel it anymore" after six months. Time to move on.

Working out is a stress reliever if there ever was one. I went through this with my first GF, and aftewards i became addicted to iron. It was the only thing that made me feel better.

Harness this, push through a few workouts, get ripped.

This just happened to me recently..

I did the advice given.. I traded my hurt feelings for anger.. And lots of it. I banged out the highest leg press ever today, and after my workout I knew adrenaline was keeping me going, but I went ahead and stopped. I thought I'd get tired, but then I would think about her, and it would just get me banging out these reps like no sweat.

I just had a breakup and the gym/playing basketball is my safehaven from all the stress and outside problems. I just try to focus it all into my workout.

Lol same here, except it's not my mood, for the past couple days my sleep was HORRIBLE. I was averaging 3-5 hours per day heading off to work then going home to lift... and my muscles had a different type of soreness.... not DOMS, but certainly "not normal" muscle pain. The last workout I did it was more of mental failure than actual muscle failure (lower pain tolerance), so I decide to stop for a week.

Im goin through this too, just remember, being depressed wont get her back. If you really love her, wait for her to come back. Just hit the weights, like they said turn the depression into hates. Beat the weights like you hate them.

Put yourself into a primal emotion while training. Anger, Hate, Fear. Nothing more natural, there is a 20% difference between a phsyced lift to an unphsyced one.

    Health is defined as.

A good state of Mental, Social, and Physical well being, and not just through absense of disease.

if your not healthy, you dont perofrm as well as you could when you are at near 100% health.

Emotions play a huge part!! Being down and depressed will make your numbers lower, being angry and agressive and focused will raise them. Its about getting over it now, or If you really believe you want her back, you go and try, if you fail teh first or second time, then it really is time to move on. Its sad to hear youve lost someone you truley loved man.

Why should the girl that dumped you have any right to effect your workouts?

think about that every time you think that its limiting you physically

I think Patrick Swayze said it best in "Red Dawn".

"Just let it turn to somethin' else."

Seriously tho, I would say not eating well has as much to do with it as being depressed. It's ok to mourn a relationship. I'd take a couple of days of, get your crying done or whatever and then get back at the iron.

My mate is in the same position, a lass playing with his head.

It's effecting my workouts now so i'm getting pi**ed off. You want your training partner to be pushing you but he barely does a full routine.
