    Best Personal Advice

Whats the best personal advice you've ever gotten. I have gotten two great pieces of advice.

It was 7th grade I didn't know WTF i wanted to do. Then a guy who was some succesful business person came to talk to the class. He talked, and I was like wow I went to open up my own piece of advice. So I went up to him later and asked him what the best piece of advice he think he could give me. He said this. If a person doubts you once if the person says you'll never make anything, if a person lies to you, goes behind your back or anything, remember this they'll do it again.

I put that in my business plan in fact.

A teacher in 1st grade because my english was REALLY ROUGH. She told me this, Take insults and turn them into motivation. If someone makes fun or you, prove them wrong.

Very good piece of advice, I don't truly get determined until someone tells me I can't. THen I do it.
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."

The weak turn negative against other people in an attempt to gain control/power over them. Because in their lives they are so powerless, they try to bring others down to their level.

If you're a guy with a powerful presence, you don't have to take hits at other people because you are already on top. Naturally I'm not very negative toward people any more, just found the ability to tolerate a lot of stuff.

My professor was lecturing our class on leadership and all he said was "You can be the caboose that holds everyone back or you can be the engine that leads the train." I've never wanted to follow anyone, so I have decided I will be a engine running at full blast.

Another great piece of advice I received was from Lou Holtz (sp). I didn't receive it personally, but I did hear it through one of his motivational movies. Lou Holtz had three rules to live by and three questions to ask yourself:

    Three Rules
    Do what's right.
    Do the best you can.
Treat everyone well and with respect.

    Three Questions
    Can I be trusted?
    Am I committed to excellence?
Do I care about myself and others?

Every since I have applied these rules and asked these questions to myself I have grown exponentially as an individual and have learned many things I never thought possible. All my relationships have improved, my confidence has sky-rocketed and I am doing better than ever.

Edit: I have Lou Holtz's rules and questions on my wall in my room. I made a poster and look at them everytime before I leave my house. It's a constant reminder to be the best I can be at any given time.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but people doubt other people all the time. Not everyone comes out and says it or acts on it, but if you spend your life recording who doubts you at any given time, you will have a long list. People don't doubt to be mean, they doubt based on their own internal logic. Everybody has doubts about anything at any given time. The rest of the advice is solid, but the gist of it really is just to believe that you can do it.

I like what sharkall has written.

My boss once told me, it's the people who jump in first, and get the job done, that will be succesfull in life. Not the fools who sit around and wait for the ideal opportunity.

Also, Matthew 12:34 - O generation of vipers, how can you being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

John 15:13 - Greater Love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

No, poeple won't doubt you all the time, kinda doubt i'm talking about is like you ahve this great new idea, and a person says yea that'll never work you're an idiot to think of such a thing. If they wanna jump onto your boat after you made its only because they see the brilliance in it.

People doubt each other for many reasons, and on a global level people cannot be trusted. For a reason, its the same as driving a car. You can be the best driver out there on the road, in fact 99.999% of the people can be the best drivers out there... it only takes one bad drive to ruin/take someones life.

Maybe the vast majority of people can be trusted, but I wouldnt count on it.

And my best personal advice, is live life for you. Enjoy every minuet, do what you want (within reason) and dont try living up to anyone else.

Wow WBBIRL that's a pretty anti-social way of looking at things. Whether someone can be trusted or not (if you know them personally) is up to each individual to try to calculate.
If you want to live your life in fear of people harming you then go ahead, but I personally like to focus on the fact that there are many people out there who I *can* trust.

I give anti-social a new meaning, im like a 13 on an anti-social scale that only goes to 10 so maybe thats why my opinions come off that way.

Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless--like water.
Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup,
You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle,
You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot.
Now water can *flow* or it can *crash*!
    Be water, my friend.

Two more my grandma told me that I never forgot.

Its better to be single that to wish you were.

Let people talk long enough, and they will hang themselves.

A good one though from a friend. Lmao...

He was about 10 years old or so when he learned this.

Dad: What is your favorite color.
    Son: Red
Dad: No. Its pink. You'll understand when your older.

    Not really spoken advice but...

My mom cut out a magazine article about a program at the school I'm going too. Changed my life forsure.

It was a easy way of saying "get your ass in gear".

EDIT: Whenever I got hurt my dad said "Does it hurt enough to go to the hospital?" My answer was always No, AND still is.
