what else can i do outside of weight lifting?

Hey guys, i work construction (very heavy) and lift 3 times a week.

I used to go play squash, but the 2 buddies i'd go with would rather sit on the couch than be in shape.

I'm curious what else i might do for some exercise? I hate running and i hate swimming..... what do you guys do on the side?

I like to ride cross country, play with my dogs (Neopolitan Mastiff and St. Bernard), occansionally I'll do a crossfit challenge or some kind of CV test, but I really like just playing around with junkyard stuff. Axle presses, brick shotput, tire flips.

+1 on the martial arts. This will give you a rock solid core and train all the stabalizer muscles. I can't say enough good stuff about it.

You're not going to pack on muscle if you're not eating enough. Wall climbing and mountian biking burn A LOT of calories that will eat muscle up if you're not eating enough.

I don't think that rock climbing burns calories at the same rate as most cardio activities do. Unless you are doing some sort of solo speed challenge.

Most rock climbers, including myself, move at a steady pace and are never really aerobically taxed (unless you fall down ten or fifteen feet on a 300-foot wall when you are lead rope climbing - then you will probably start breathing heavily). In fact I would think it is more comparable to weight lifting, since you are essentially lifting your body up with your arms and legs many, many times over again.
