The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Bulk or still cut?

    Shirtless:

Shirt (pretending to be an MMA fighter):

I down to 210 from 225. I don't have much muscle underneath and was wondering if I should bulk up to 225 or 230 to pack on some muscle.

I love product promotion for ON Whey. Anyways, what are your goals? Do you want to have a defined body, or do you want to be bulky and have a lot of mass. If you want to look defined keep cutting and keep your diet very very clean. If you want to have mass, go on a bulk and eat clean.

I want to have mass, but I also want to be defined. It's just a matter of deciding which to do first.

You just need to lift weights and exercise.

Go on a clean bulk. I did a huge bulk and I have over fifteen more pounds of muscle in four months.

I agree, when you build some muscle then I would decide what to do. Personally I had your body I would definetly not go on a bulk just my opinion.

Hey good job on the progress so far. I woulden't cut or bulk, I'd keep eating maintenance and lifting as hard as possible. A clean diet, good sleep and enough calories to stay motivated will be your best friend right now. Keep your protein/fat intake up, calories down and weights heavy, you'll be where you want to be in no time. Good luck.

I would cut for several more months if I were you. If that means that you don't have any muscle underneath, then so be it. When you clean bulk after that, all the weight you put on (for the most part) should be good, quality muscle. I think you'll look a lot better if you do it this way, and it probably won't take as long as it would if you constantly keep going back and forth between cutting and bulking.

I also think you might be a little discouraged with the results if you start bulking now. Since you have a higher body fat percentage, your body probably won't look radically different than it was when you were originally at 225 lbs, and that'll probably be very discouraging for you mentally, since you'll feel like you haven't gotten anywhere with all the work you've been putting in.

Stay with the cut, get to a respectable body fat % and weight, and then you can go on a nice, slow clean bulk.

Mentally speaking, very true. You woulden't SEE any progress for a long time which can be frustrating for some people.

Why not cut a ton of fat, yet still gain strength?

Its really a win win. Lean and strong. Worry about size when you hit sub 16% BF

I'm thinking he should just get the mass first and then go on a cut to see all the work he's done. If he keeps eating at maintenance he's not going to see any significant gains, and if he goes on a cut he's going to lose strenght.

Unless strength is the primary goal, who cares. I like how (tofer) spelled it out. If he bulks even on a clean bb diet, it will take years naturally to look like a well built lifter. my 2 cents

you seem to be doing a great job cutting....keep it up....it just scares me when you say your maintenance is 2100....i thought my maintenance was close to 2800.....so i'm cutting at 2400....no wonder i'm not losing weight

That's my mom's case of beer.

As for caffeine. I can't take too much because of my condition. I have Tourettes Syndrome.

I'd continue cutting (not for 2 years lol), you still got quite a gut.
