The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Max Weighted Chin Challenge!! *Post ur maxes*!

Okay so i just decided to post it here. So please everyone, post and repost your numbers. And please read the rules and regs first!
    Thanks guys

    The Max Weighted Chin Challenge
    Deadline: Monday 4th September 2006

    Rules and Regs

    • First off, no inflating of numbers, i.e no cheating, this is just a bit of fun to keep things at WBB friendly, fun and and to keep spirits and motivation high!*

    • If video footage of the lfits can be psoted that would be very much welcommed. But as this just a bit of fun, video is NOT a nessesity. (fits in with the first rule)

    • The challenge is for Max Chinups/Pullups only. So if its your working set, please only post a set where you did just one rep. So basically jsut post your 1RM. If you post for e.g. 5 x BW + 80lbs. Only the weight will be classed as your 1RM. so in this case 80lbs would be classed as your Max Weighted Chin/Pullup.

    • When posting your Max attempt(s), please include these details.
      Your Bodyweight. e.g. BW = 150lbs
      Weight of max weighted chin/pullup. e.g. BW + 60lbs

    • Exeucution of a Weighted Chinup means that your palms are facing toward your body, and you have to fully extend your arms so you are in a hanging position (with weights either strapped to your belt, or a dumbell or somekind of weight between ur legs), and then pull up until your chin touches or exceeds past the bar.

    • Execution of a Weighted Pullup is the same as above exept that a pullup is the palms face away from the body instead.

    • Chin Ups and Pullups at this moment in time for this challenge shall be kept as different challenges so in one part of the challenge shall be "Max weighted chin up" and the other part shall be "Max weighted pullup" unless you guys would rather just have it mixed, and to do whatever you feel is most comfortable.

    • have fun, and stay safe and good luck in your quest for that 2 x BW chin/pullup!

    • The deadline for posting your max's and BW's shall be the 4th of September. You have two months. Now GO!

    • New Rule! All posted Max's should be farely recent. 1 month ago is the maximum I will say. Just so that this challenge is actually a current one!

*If i have got pullups and chinups mixed up please tell me!* lol

    Edit:
[*]Edit: Just thought I would add this. There will be three seperate categories for this Challenge. Canadian Crippler suggested and I thought it was very good so i think this is how the system shall work!
    Categories are..

    1. Total weight lifted (BW+weight attached),
    2. Additional weight lifted (weight attached), and
    3. Percentage of BW lifted (BW+ weight attached / BW x 100)

Any quiries, questions or suggestions feel free to psot them!

*Leauge Table Updated!!! Wednesday 5th July 2006!!*

    See the standings so far!

+135 x 3, as per sig, but that was a WHILE ago. Current best, +90 x 8. BW 230. No vids yet but three witnesses. Will work on the vids, and on bigger weight.

DAMN YOU BELIAL. I thought I had a decent chance at it.

    Stats:

    Weight- 158lbs
    Palms Away- BW +70lbs x 1
    %=144.4% of BW

Have video in my journal. Was from my most recent gym workout.

If we have until Sept, I'll def try and get BW +2/3s which means I would need, BW + 104lbs.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

U shud try one man. and 200lbs + 25 for 16 reps is v. good. How many BW chin ups can u do?

Okay. I did some weighted chins this morning (for the first time since ever) lol. Damn, as soon as I had extra weight onto the chins I cud feel my abs tightening. Damn it felt good! lol.
Well im very pleased with the numbers i was playing with today.

    This is how it went.

BW = 160lbs (as of this morning)

10 x BW chinups (warm up)
    BW + 48 x 6
BW + 70 x 3 (foot slipped and dropped dumbell. lol)

So was pleased with these so far. But it was too light, i knew i cud get more. So I added more. (alot harder tho, when trying to keep dumbell in between legs)

I went crazy and put 114lbs on the dumbell. I really thought i cud get it. So I tried it.

Didnt go according to plan the first time I tried. As the video will show. How NOT to do a weighted chin up lol. Quite funny actually.

Vide of **** in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v528p8tgjh0

So after a few more tries of 116lbs. (only being able to get halfway) I decided, ahh man it just aint gonna happen. So i thought, well to save total embarassment, i'll take off the 5kg plates and put 2kg plates on instead. Totalling 46.5kg (102lbs) I got it with a little struggle. So thats my PB as of now. (Technically the weight was 102lbs, because the weight of my dumbell is 2.5kg, and not 2kg) which is what i thought.

    Video of BW + 102lb chinup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SJLS_tZ6eE

    Max Weighted Chinup = BW + 102lbs @ 160lbs BW

Im pleased. it makes sense i got about 102lbs. Cuz I have done 120kg (264lbs) x 1 on lat pulldown machine.

And with a little training I will get a 2 x BW chin hehe

and to finish off my workout of chinups.
I banged out 21. wow i nearly threw myself through the roof after using heavy weight.

Video of 21 BW Chin Ups: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6EGVud6pjk

    Max Weighted Chin: BW + 102lbs @ 160lbs BW

    Added Weight = 102lbs
    Total weight (BW + added) = 262lbs
Total Percentage of BW = 163.7%

Posted the same in the other thread, but since this is "official" ... lol

BW(180)+135 for a single. I doubt I could do much more than that now.

Is that recent Anthony, or did you do that a while back? Not that I think you couldn't, I'd just hope you did it for the competition.
A child does not learn to squat from the top down. In other words, he does not suddenly make a conscious decision one day to squat. Actually, he is squatting one day and make the conscious decision to stand. Squatting precedes standing in the developmental sequence. This is the way a child's brain learns to use the body as the child develops movement patterns. Therefore, a child is probably crawling, rocks back into a squatting position with the back completely relaxed and the hips completely flexed, and stands when he has enough hip strength. This approach makes a lot of sense and can be applied to relearning the deep squat movement if it is lost. -Gray Cook

That was 5 months ago, so I don't expect it to count for this comp. I may try again if I have time, but I'm not making any promises.

Do they sell something to strap the extra weight to you, or should I just ghetto rig a rope around my waste?

How do you get your chin above the bar with that 2x4 in the way, are you just touching you chin to the bottom of the boards?

hahahha no actually i was struggling a bit at the top. The video lied to you. It seems to be playing a little faster than it should. But hey we have 2 months. =)

    EDIT:
I had just taken a shower right before that. SO i suppose if i was at a gym, i may get 5-10lbs more.
