The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    critique my cut

I'm 226 lbs, 6'3 started my cut 2 days ago.

cutting on 3000 calories, mostly from shakes actually.

    typical day :
6am : milk and whey and oatmeal shake 400 cal
9am : milk and whey and oatmeal shake 400 cal
lunch 11am : salad with dressing and chicken 600 cal
    2pm : milk and whey 300 cal
    4pm preworkout : 30g whey, 50g dextrose and water 300 cal
    6pm postworkout : 40g whey 50g dextrose and water 350 cal
730 pm : whey milk and oatmeal shake 400 cal
11pm : whey and milk shake 300 cal

    approximate estimates...

    other things..

trying to lift the same weights/ same routine
drink about 1.5 gallons of water a day
take about 10 capsule of fish oil a day

    ephedra 75 mg 600mg caffeine a day

    any suggestions? see anything wrong?

whats the deal with cheat meals? most people who cut have them once a week?

You need more variety in your diet, IMO.

trying to lift the same weights/ same routine
Why are you sticking with the same weights? You should still be using progressive overload even when on a cut. Unless you meant something else...

You need Opticen or whole foods! No breakfast, no nutriets, nowhere near enough carbs, fat will be a bit low too.

    More veggies.

As for cheat days, it depends on how much of a deficit your running. If your only doing a few hundred cals a day, and cheating once a week your not going to get anywhere. If your doing 1000 cal a day then a cheat more often can be justified.

You would probably be better off cuting your cals a bit if you want to do a cheat meal. RIght now my estimated maintance is about 3600 cals a day with a bodyweight of 285lbs. Im only sitting at about 1200-1500 calories a day for the past week. I am doing a cheat meal to stay sane however. At 226lbs your maintance might actually be around 3000-3500 so I would rethink your cutting cals.

    go lower than 3000 calories?

arent you supposed to do 1g / lbm of protein and
    .5g / lbm of fat?

    thats like 200*3 = 600
    100* 9 = 900 already

thats 1500 already, and carbs too... how would i cut under 3000, i thought 3000 was pushing it too low..

How much weight are you losing on 3k a day? Yah, on a cut you don't get many carbs. If your losing good weight on 3k a day stick to it. If your not then keep cutting back the carbs till you get the weightloss you want.

Well, stick to it and see where it takes you. On 3k a day I doubt you'll have much room to cheat though. I would try to add some green veggies if you can.

dont you get bored of not eating real food? I couldnt hack just drinking shakes all day with only one real meal at 11am! The lack of fruit and veg doesnt seem very healthy either...

i think this says it all.

try analysing your results after three weeks, if your not losing, cut more calories!

i would definetly try to get more from food though instead of liquids. the human digestive system wasnt deigned to process liquid food all day, it was designed to process whole foods. supplements should be used to supplement.

also re scarz of pain post - are you increasing your workouts ?
