The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    personal trainer

Do you guys/girls feel that if I got certified I would be at a disadvantage because of my age? (I'm 18).

Yes and No Syntekz "older"people might not take to taking advice from someone young enough to be his/her son,but than again all that matters is whether or not you can whip the person into shape . Besides if you want to go for it like NIKE says "Just Do It"

Syntekz only you can answer that question.Take me for example the college course I took last year cost me $10,000 plus dollars, was it worth it...yes because it was what I wanted to take.So you should sit down and think about whether or not you really want to take the course

It would be smart for me to get certified. I easily have enough equipment to train someone in my home and I heard insurance is pretty low for a year. I could do that shiat on the side and make some $$$$.

    I'd say go for it.

Myself, I think I've just about talked myself into finishing up school in Kinesiology. If I make that final, I'm gonna go for the CSCS and possibly a few other certs on top of it. That'll make for mad dolla$ when I get done.

As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

It's damn tempting, 600 dollars is quite a bit though.

I have the feeling I wouldn't make any money off of it, for now at least. I'd just be doing it to learn so I'd have the materials, etc.

As far as being recognized ACE is up there. Obviously if money ain't factor then I would go for something else. ACE is definitely not my first nor second choice but what can ya do? At least it will get the ball rolling.

definately, it would be a good choice to get certified
just dont expect to make alot of $$paper$$ right after-
i think mostly in personal training, you have to have a reputation to establish a decent client base- unless your gonna go to ballys and try to get a job as the "intro-trainer" free session guy. I would expect it taking at least 5 years before you make some ok money.
know your ****, read alot, and everything will fall in place.
just dont spend your $600 to become another "certified personal trainer" who just paid to become that and dosnt know their stuff/ and or love what they do.

Go with acsm. Ace does suck, maki.

PS, syntekz it's not your age, but your size.

Not to be a prick, but most people like to hire a trainer that's bigger than they are.

well that may not be necessary so.

Sure it ain't no good walking around with a beer belly trying to attract clients but not everyone will not only hire a 220 lb, 18 inch gun beefcake. In fact perhaps the builk of the market may even be intimitated by someone liek this.

Think of your clients, and whats the most popular market. Surely it is the people want to change from being a out of shape slob to fit and healthy with some muscle not bodybuilding competitors. Therfore you don't need to be 220 + and huge to show off a good physique.

Also look at some of the people who are quite well known in the bodybuilding world. People like Will Brink etc. Can't tell from his pic but he looks skinny, but he knows his **** and has a reputation of good results.

it'll be like any business, referralls are key to business growth, but its slow till then.

You need a degree before you can get certified with ACSM.
Thats is why I recommended ACE.

According to the ACE book Anabolic steroids DO NOT increase muscle growth, ACE is a complete joke.

    Go with ISSA for starters.

Unfortunatly the main problem you will run into is people base your ability as a trainer on your physical appearance. If you look how they want to look, their more than willing to shell out cash for your time. If your just the trainer assigned to them because they got a few free PT sessions with their new membership chances are they will use those and thats it.

Ya, I would most likely be the same way though if I was looking for a personal trainer.

I'm probably at a disadvantage because I've got a small frame.
