    GSP Injured

Internet rumors are flying that GSP has a hamstring injury and is out of UFC 63. I wonder who will fill in againts Hughes. Diego just fought, and he is probably the next best in the weight class.

BJ versus Matt is a hell of an alternate fight.

Not what I've been hoping for, but certainly a fight worthy of anticipation.

I'm sure it won't be a title fight for B.J., but what if he actually wins? That won't go over well.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Just saw this on Sherdog. Probably one of the fights I was actually looking forward to and looking forward to spending money on.

These dam groins are ruining my sport watching pleasure. GSP, TO, Steve Smith etc.etc.

Throw Sanchez at Hughes, then we won't hear anymore of that "uncrowned champion" bs.

i agree, Diego needs to be put down like the rabid dog he is. He needs someone with a name to fight. he fought nick diaz but that's not a top contender. Let matt hughes walk all over him and watch that ego drop like a dime store hooker. I think and hope liddell beats babalu so that he can fight sylva in november and truly have the greatest in the world named. Pride and UFC together for the first time ...will be awesome

Hughes is hardly diverse himself. And, as Darren said, BJ beat him once already. Easily.

What ever happened to BJ's instructor though? That guy fought once and was impressive and I haven't sene him fight since.

Diego just fought and beat Karo Parisyan. A very tough SOB.

One Rematch to Another: Penn Replaces St. Pierre

    Wednesday, August 23, 2006
    by Sherdog.com Staff

Georges St. Pierre's "Rush" to recovery from a severe groin pull will not happen fast enough to rematch UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes (Pictures) on September 23, the UFC announced on its Web site Wednesday afternoon.

Filling the vacated slot to face Hughes is the only man to beat the champion mixed martial artist since March 2001: Hawaii's B.J. Penn (Pictures).

On Saturday, Sherdog.com first reported the severity of St. Pierre's groin injury and, subsequent a hard workout on Aug. 23 intended to test the pull, the possibility that Penn would take his place.

Penn defeated Hughes by submission in January 2004 to capture the UFC belt. Yet stalled contract negotiations between Penn and the UFC saw the fighter relinquish the belt and sign a three-fight deal with K-1.

During his time with the Japanese promotion, Penn went 2-1, defeating Duane Ludwig (Pictures) and Renzo Gracie (Pictures) while falling short on points to a much larger Ryoto Machida (Pictures).

The 27-year-old from Hilo fought a fourth fight outside the UFC, decisioning Rodrigo Gracie (Pictures) in his family's Rumble on the Rock promotion.

After settling lawsuits related to his previous contract with the UFC, Penn and the Las Vegas-based promotion agreed to a new deal in November 2005.

Penn returned to the Octagon in March of this year, losing a razor-thin split decision to St. Pierre, which set-up the Canadian's second now-delayed shot at Hughes' title.

He did, and yes Parisyan is a good fighter. But let's face it, Hughes would whoop Diego pretty quickly. I really dont care for Hughes at all but I dont see him losing anytime soon, not even to penn (although I hope penn sneaks another submission and wins)

I don't think Penn will win. Hughes is far better now than when he fought Penn before, and Penn looked like hell against GSP last spring.
