    It doesn't matter...
As long as it is consistant...
You are usually at the lowest first thing in the morning after your 1st excrement & before your first food/liquid comsumption...
And heaviest in the evening after dinner...
However, there are exceptions to that with a few people...

I personally like to see how much I can gain & lose in a day.. there are days I can gain 7-8 pounds between the morning and evening... and then lost again by the next morning...

In the morning after you take care of your business in the bathroom, go ahead and weigh yourself naked.

the important thing is to always weigh in at the same time and in the same conditions (empty bladder, same amount of food eaten etc).

Could be any number of factors. One thing is for sure, though, a difference of 5 pounds isn't just because of how much you ate or didn't eat in a single day. It's probably water, and from something you ate acting as a diuretic. Caffeine, for instance, as well as alcohol, can really affect that.
