The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    MMA killed my back

Hey guys, I'm having some pain in my back. My coach had his hooks and i protected my neck well, but he then started leaning forward pressuring my back. Well, needless to say I tapped, but he lost control and kept leaning forward. Right now my back still has some pain. Is there anything I should do in terms of stretches or icing to make sure this doesn't become something that takes awhile to recover from?

can you give us some more info as to where the pain is on your back? if its in your lower right or left it could be a pinched nerve, if its up higher it might be a pulled muscle or a dislocated rib..

The same thing happned to me except I felt my shoulder pop. I thought I had dislocated it since I couldn't move it and the pain made me freeze up. I strained my interanl rotator (subscap). So now I am rehabbing it andbeing extra careful when I grapple.

It's part of training. Ice and take some anti inflamatories. If you're still hurting the same a week from now I'd suggest visiting your doctor.

Don't try asking to have someone here pinpoint your problem.

"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

Yeah well one day definetly didn't make a difference lol. I'm going to try and wait it out. Also I'm going to cut out my back workout for the week and see if that bit of rest helps it.

Maybe some ice and stretching will help.

Ice stretching and NSAIDS will help. With most types of musculoskeletal injuries especially when inflammation is involved (and it usually will be) RICE is the standard...Rest, Compression, Ice, and Elevation. And yes, asking us to pinpoint and diagnose is useless. We're not MDs and we don't have you in the office or have all the other resources MDs would at their disposal. If it's bugging you then get on it man! Go see your friendly neighborhood doc.

i'd love to know what sort of maneuvre was being attempted here. Coaches should NEVER be in a spot where they lose control.

considering he said, " my coach had his hooks in...," I'm assuming the coach was going for rear naked choke.
