The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I'm just going to come out and say it. I think most of the stuff on his website is bull****. I may be wrong, but that's how I see it.

His Highland Games PRs aren't very impressive, as far as Highland Games Activities go.

to eaches own, but seems to me the man has the knowledge and experience to do those lifts. i doubt theres many people on this planet that can go 1,000 lbs from a dead stop parallel with just a belt.

Some of his lifts seem very impressive and some seem not so impressive. No where close to the strongest man in the world. I'd like to see how he would fare in a full lifting meet with judges watching him.

What really gets to me is his deadlift. 705x1 isn't all that special in the elite powerlifting world. Don't get me wrong, it's still an incredible feat of strength, but not out of the ordinary. Plus, who cares about a 3/4 deadlift or a 1/3 deadlift? If it's not full ROM then it's not a deadlift.

    Hah hah.

How come he started with it down. At one point during the video is dipped (kind of) and came back up. It looked like a seizure almost. Hah. But, amazing nontheless.

Most people couldnt support 1000 pounds with their back, let alone squat it. This man is among the strongest, and must know a thing or two.

I mean common, squatting 1000 off a rack would be easier then starting at the bottom of the rep. Atleast I think so... you get zero rebound so you have NO momentum comming off the bottom of the lift.

His 1000lb bottom up squat is almost a back lift. It's not really comparable to a PL squat.

He's like a classic strongman of old, doing feats of strength that often seem more impressive than they really are. There is no doubt that he is very strong, but he needs to compete and win to be able to claim world class status.

I think you being able to even budge with 1000 pounds of iron on your back would give you that.

some of these comments are really rediculous LOL a back lift?? its a rack squat starting from the bottom like any other rack squat, HE ONLY HAS A BELT ON!!

as for a 705 deadlift, thats probley only a belt also, as for his other lifts with no shirts/suits, think outside the box people, theres more then just bench squat and deadlift.

The numbers just dont add up. My max dead is 600x1 with "only a belt" and I'm no where near elite. I know that's just one statistic, but if he can truely squat 1000+ pounds with a belt, then should sure as hell be able to deadlift more than 700.

I think the guy is full of **** personally. I'd like to see him in a legitimate powerlifting federation meet.

I'm not denying he is strong, but some of his lifts are quite suspicious.

i understand your reasons Justin, i ordered his dvd on partial training and they show him doing some sick lifts such as a 1800 quarter squat, 1,000 partial deadlifts, 1000 lb partial zercher, and some other full lifts i cant remember, i will let you all know when i watch it

thats a good effort on the positive squat, but his numbers are seriously not even close to being the strongest dude on the planet - you should check out what the top strongman competitors are actually lifting

see i understand this, my point is his variety of lifts, conditioning, and martials arts all put together makes me think this. i said he is one of them, not THE strongest.

He's strong, but his only truly world class lift, drug-free or not, is that squat. His other lifts are good but probably not even top 10 worthy.
