The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

BB rows are one of those movements that take some time getting used to...super PRs in the mix man.

I see. Nice platform deads. How high is the platform? Is it hard to keep your back arched?

Thanks! I was using a platform that's 5" or 6" high. It can be hard to keep the arch tight, but it gets easier with practice. It's more of a flexibility thing.

    Squat
    8x135
    5x185
    5x225
2x265 Groin started tightening up. Decided to stop the set and narrow my stance.
    Add belt
    5x300 PR + 5

    Floor Press
    All reps were paused.
    5x115
    5x135
    5x145
    5x155
Might have been able to hit 165, but didn't want to miss a rep.

    Dumbell Rows
    5x55
    5x60
    5x65
    5x70
    5x75 PR +5

    Notes
Awesome session! I felt strong throughout. My bench press feels like it's getting much stronger, but I'm going to try and wait to max out.
I'll be switching up the exercises next week and doing the upper body movement first to try and get a few more pounds on those.

How wide are you squatting? I find going really wide without any supportive equipments kills my hips.
    PRs: 655/525/645 = 1825 Total
    Meet PRs: Bench Only 525

I've been slowly pushing my stance wider and wider. I think I've been reading too many powerlifting articles for equipped lifters lol
Either way, the narrower stance was a lot more comfortable on my hips and groin.

Ya man, squatting uber wide is great if you are equipped but you will be stronger if you bring you stance in a bit for raw work. That is unless you are squatting wide raw to train for equipped lifting in which case it has its benefits.

Thanks b! I had a mirror in front of me, so as far as I could tell it was. There are some people at my gym that know what a good squat looks like and I'll get them to give me an "up" signal, but they weren't around.

Decent workout. I started a little heavy so I didn't get in as many sets as I would have like, but overall it wasn't bad.

I see you are still following stumps routine, nice workout bro!

Why the routine change to begin with though?

Thanks Dave. I changed because it's exams and I figured I wouldn't be able to get 4 sessions in per week. Now I'm sticking with it because I like Lots of heavy work and I don't feel beat up.

Nice lifting man. Way to start out heavy at the beginning and keep pushing through the whole workout.

I was really hungry at dinner, so I made myself two 1/2 lb burgers, each with 2 strips of bacon and cheese, and some broccoli in garlic butter. I felt thirsty after, so I had 2 scoops of Nitrean in 2.5 cups milk. Fitday told me it came out to:

    Calories: 2590
    Fat: 163 g
    Carbs: 93 g
    Protein: 182 g
