The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

It was a crappy rainy day, wasn't it? Give us an update on your bench progress in the last few months or so. We all know you can deadlift and squat anything, but how's the bench coming along?

Well my bench went down the ****ter when I went on vacation and when I started up again I was getting intense elbow and shoulder pain. I've started doing more pulling movements and there is little pain now. I did the 155 pretty easily yesterday and will continue adding 5 lbs every workout until it starts getting hard and I'll go with the 2.5's again. If I start stalling early or something screwy happens I think I'm going to try a Westside bench template.

For the record, I was doing 3x5 @ 170 before I went on vacation. Doing 160 on Monday will put me pretty close to that again Also, my OHP is moving along nicely which tells me my bench should be moving too.

Straight peanut butter is a great source of extra calories before bed. I've got to start pounding back a few tablespoons a night again.

Best workout in a while. Squat felt good and had good depth to it. I know a couple of people that will give me an "up" command once I break parallel so I ask them when it gets heavy. The OHP was another nice little surprise. I wasn't expecting to get all 3x5, but only the last one was a grinder. Looks like these extra calories are treating me well Also, 5x405 deadllift falls next week

Oktoberfest starts todays...I will be drinking away may gains tonight and tomorrow

You are making some incredible progress. That is a sick squat - 405 is definitely within sight - and your OHP is really on the move. Keep packing in those calories and you will be a beast in no time.

Oh yeah, weighed in at 162-163 this morning. Another pound or two from last week. I need to get a digital scale so I don't have to read those tiny god damned lines on the scale haha

Just make sure you invest in a high quality one. I cheaped out and bought one from wal-mart and the piece of **** reads a different weight every single time i step on it.

No way i can weigh 179 in the morning, 186 at night, and 183 before i take a dump.

Tanita scales are reasonably priced. I bought mine at a local store a couple of years back.

    Take a look at these:

Ugh. I crashed in the middle of the squats and it was all downhill from there. I had zero energy and was yawning from about the first set of bench on. The only upside is I played around with my bench technique a little and may have found something that will work a little better. Of course I've said that about a thousand times now...

Felt pretty good. I don't know what happened but I had a weird neck pain after squatting. It's in the front and feels beneath my collar bone and it incredibly uncomfortable. The motion that causes pain is pushing my shoulders down....the complete opposite of shrugging.
