The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Awesome squats, looked easy. Which Oly shoes are you using? Also how did you find the sizing, the same or smaller than your usual sneakers?

I think they are VS Athletics. Sizing seems to be about the same as sneakers.

Thanks bud. I compete in powerlifting, not bodybuilding.

    Bench
    135 x 10
    135 x 10
    225 x 5
    315 x 2
    365 x 1
    405 x 1
    460 x 2
    425 x 4
    ~Wide Grip Paused~
    385 x 8

    V-Bar Pushdown
    160 x 10
    200 x 8
    240 x 8
    260 x 8

    Reverse Grip Pushdown, 1 Hand
    60 x 15
    50 x 15
    40 x 15

I felt like complete crap warming up today, tricep tendons screaming at me, no energy, etc, so I was pretty surprised to hit a nice 2 rep PR on bench. The 385 paused set felt amazing, chest strength just continues to increase like crazy. Judging by how 460 felt I'm pretty confident I could hit it paused fairly smoothly. Goal for this meet is 475 and so far it looks like I'll have a pretty good shot at it.

Kind of wanted 575 x 3 but my knees have been aching a lot lately so I decided to not push things too much. Form felt good, can definitely tell I'm sitting back a little more and getting more of the load onto my hips.

Do your knees ache form the front squats? Volume looks real nice today, I haven't wrapped my legs in years.

Probably not, I've got a meet scheduled for November 2nd.

Sometimes yeah. I use a fairly narrow stance for front squats so it puts a lot more stress on my knees than a low bar squat.

Feeling stronger and stronger every week on incline. Still having some tendinitis in my elbows, just wanted to get a little work in on close grip, nothing crazy.

Weight was 209.4 today; lightest I've been since I started dieting over 3 months ago.

I do, although I need to get a pair of chucks as the oly shoes aren't the best for when I do wide stance stuff.

Energy was at an all time low today, probably the worst I've ever felt. Was planning on trying to pull 675 but 640 felt like a million pounds so I wisely backed down. Deficit pulls felt great, really can't get over how good my back has been feeling lately. Real curious to see what my conventional pull is at right now. Weight is down to 209 today, so not a big surprise that I felt like shit. Half a pound drop just from yesterday; time for a MUCH needed refeed. So far I'm ahead of schedule as far as my cut goes.

Just asking because I stopped wearing my oly shoes and started using my chucks again and my knees feel better. Not sure if that's something you might want to try.

Going to start doing some higher volume extensions at the end of my squat workouts, just looking to get a good pump/blood blow to hopefully help with the tendinitis a little bit. Whenever I have tricep tendinitis flare up, light weight high volume pushdowns for a few weeks seems to take care of it almost completely. I really don't do much direct quad work besides squats, which are usually pretty low volume as it is, so I have a feeling that's a big part of the problem.

Strong squats and good call on the higher rep extensions I do the same thing for my triceps to help with my tendinitis and it definitely couldn't hurt for the knees either.
