The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Focused on form again today with my squats. I did notice a little difference already compared to last time but I still have a long ways to go. My hips are tight as hell, never felt it like this before. Hopefully numbers will start shooting up as I get the form down and can push some real weight. I know a have a ton in me as far as quads are concerned, I could probably hit a 400 lb atf squat with a narrow stance.

Wolverine open got moved to November so we had a small meet in our gym tonight. I'm not even going to attempt to squat in a meet untill I'm hitting liek 450 so I only did push/pull.

    Bench
    300 - cake
    320 - good lift
335 - miss; came up pretty well, just couldn't lock it out

    All Raw

    Deadlift
    515 - smooth
    520 - great lift
530 - miss; so ****ing close, couldn't lock it out

Wasn't bad over-all, set a dead pr at least. I really need to figure out a way to get some leg drive out of my bench, my legs are so short I'm on my toes to get a good arch and I get nothing out of my legs. 530 came off the floor easy on deads, just need to hit the top end harder and I can see 550 in the near future.

Huge numbers, bud! Why do you pull 95%+ for 3 sets? I'd do what you have to do to prep your body and pull a single for about 90% of your 1RM then give'r for a PR. Unless someone else recommended otherwise, it's just usually a little too taxing and will take away from your PR attempt if you're pulling that heavy for that many sets. Things are still looking gay in here, though. Keep it up.

360 AFTER 325x5, 345x2 and 355x1?! **** you. Dude, why don't you shoot for 370 next time you go for a single but take out all the taxing **** before it with just some singles building up to it?

I guess I'm around here quite a bit again so I'll bring this log back from the dead.

    Here's my last couple sessions:

    3/4/09

    Chest and Tri's

    Bench
    135 wu
    225 wu
    315 x 2
    340 x 3
    350 x 2
    335 x 2
    315 x 3
    315 x 3

    Tricep Pushdowns
    200 x 10
    200 x 10

    Dips
    Bw + 90 x 8
    Bw + 90 x 8

I was expecting a lot worse since last week was spring break and my diet was like half alcohol. 340 felt like butter, shoulda had a 4th rep but ran outta gas.

    3/9/09

    Back and Bi's

    Pullups
    Bw x 7
    Bw x 7
    Bw x 7

    Rack Pulls (below knee)
    315 x wu
    405 x 5
    500 x 5
    525 x 3

    Shrugs
    455 x 15

    Seated Low Cable Row
    210 x 12
    230 x 10
    240 x 10

    Preacher Curls

Took it easy on rack pulls, just wanted to test my back out since I haven't pulled anything in a while.

Trouble falling asleep. It's off and on, makes no sense. I could get like 2 hours of sleep the night before and still just lay there in bed the next night till 5 in the morning. Other days I'm out in an instant and could sleep for 15 hours straight if I wanted.

    Legs

    Front Squat
    135 wu
    225 x 5
    315 x 5
    335 x 3
    345 x 1
    355 x 1

    Seated Calf Raise
    5 plates x 8
    5 plates x 8
    5 plates x 8
    5 plates x 8

Kinda pressed for time so I didn't get any ham work in. Front squats felt great, 355 went up pretty easy.

A lot of heavy lifting here man. Impressive.

Thats awesome weight youre moving on those Front Squats. Do you use a clean grip?
