The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Thanks Keith, lol. I'm sure I've lost a little strength from dieting, really no doubt that my max is probably down 15 - 20 pounds from when I weighed the most last spring, but something else is going on. My biggest problem is low end, feels like I have no power right off my chest. When I switch over to something like a 3 board my strength is pretty similar to what it was a year ago. I've noticed my strength drops off a lot right around a 1 - 2 board.

I know you know how to bench, and you've probably seen this before, but if you haven't you might check it out if you're having technique issues.

Yeah that's an awesome vid for bench. I've watched it a couple times. I'm really thinking about just keeping my back flat and focusing on leg drive. Guess it won't hurt to at least try it out. I've pretty much always gotten 0 leg drive because I bring leg legs really far back under my body in order to get as big an arch as possible.

You should still be able to get plenty of leg drive if your legs are as far back as possible. Serious question, do you know how to create leg drive?

No, dead serious. I feel like a ****** but I've tried working on it and I either don't drive at all, or my form falls apart when I try.

Try bringing your feet right back to keep as tight as possible like you usually would, then drive your heels down (they'll never touch the ground if you're tight enough), and use that pressure to press your traps back and into the bench, instead of down. Do you do this? Your form shouldn't be breaking down.

I setup almost exactly like Dave does in that video. It's like I go brain dead when I start the lift though and completely forget to push my heels down.

I dunno what happened but my quads were cramping up real bad today and it took away from my squatting a lot. I tried getting as much work done as possible but my strength was absolute ****. Either they weren't fully recovered from when I hit them last, or I'm already starting to get depleted. My last couple refeeds were really ****ty, I know I didn't get enough carbs in, never filled up like I should. Can also tell I need more carbs because I get barely any pump no matter how hard I work a muscle group. My legs felt like I'd barely even done anything, aside from the cramping.

Hams felt awesome however, good mornings are increasing nicely. Judging by what I see in the mirror I've added a little mass to my hammies, which is great because they used to be pretty pathetic.

Yeah I'm really thinking about it, sometime later this year. I still want to do a natty show first, but I'm thinking maybe run a cycle in the winter and just blow the **** up. I'm confident enough with dieting now, I wouldn't be too worried if I sacrificed my bf % for a while.

Sounds like you're in the right state of mind and you've got things planned out nicely, especially considering you know how to diet properly now. Good call on doing a natty show first for the experience. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with AAS.

As long as you get a natty show done first then that's cool IMO. I plan on using that stuff a few years down the road if I stay consistent with myself. Which probably won't happen.

Staying consistent for 6-7 more years straight would be tough for anyone... going through college, graduating, finding and starting a career are all big deals. But now that you say that, watch me

Quit being a little bitch Jed, lol. Bodybuilding/weightlifting is a part of my life now, I'll always find time to work it in no matter how busy I am. It all comes down to how badly you wanna progress. I'm a Biochemistry major so as you can guess I'm busy as **** with school, add in 1 - 2 hours of gym time 4 - 5 days a week and most weeks I literally have no free time.

Dunno what to say about today, was pretty ****ty but at the same time it went better than I expected. Should have skipped altogether, my lower back is still sore from GM's and I had an exam tonight from 6 - 8 so I was fairly tired. Also haven't had any deloads in a couple months. Anyways, 405 felt like a joke, could have pulled it for 15+ easy. I was gonna shoot for 455 x 10 but after rep 5 I had to stop, run to the bathroom and puke, lol. I still don't think I'm filling up completely from my Sunday refeeds, dunno what to do besides maybe doubling my Wednesday refeed. Guess I'll try it out this week and see how it goes.

just imagine if you had to work, too! do you have student loans or how's that work? sucks about a sh***y workout, you should consider a deload since its been months. also, do that BW bench comp... i'm scared to see your results. i know you say your low on endurance but you could definitely score in the big numbers.

I've been working in the summer but I just can't save up enough to last me all school year anymore. I know I'm gonna have to work year round once this semester is finished. I'm gonna try some different stuff for the next couple weeks on bench days but I'll give the bw comp a go sometime soon.

Energy was awesome today, hit my mid-week carb-up yesterday perfect, actually looked leaner today. I ordered 10 pounds of dextrose and waxy maize, gonna start upping the carbs on my refeeds, with half or more coming from the dex/wm. Spring break starts tomorrow so I'm planning on finally taking some pics/video when I'm home next week.
