The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

If I recall correctly things didn't go well with Phil and he dropped him as a coach.

I know I haven't been posting my workouts but I wanted to throw up a quick update: squatted 425 x 4 yesterday. I really think I'll hit 500 @ 185 before the end of this summer unless I have a major setback. I might give 480 a go next week.

I haven't pulled from the floor in quite a while now but I've been doing heavy rack pulls from alternating pin heights every week and my strength is still going up so we'll see if I have any chance at a 600 deadlift sometime soon. I think I hit around 750 just above my knee last week or so.

Well I'm pretty close to contest shape right now and still hovering around 185. I honestly think I've gained a little mass over the last couple months, mainly in my legs, most likely due to all the heavy squatting. I really doubt I'd make middle-weights if I competed which would put me at the light end of the light-heavy's. I'm gonna give it another year and hopefully be closer to 195 next summer at this same bf%. I'm also still seriously considering running a cycle this winter

Haha, great to hear, man. Keep in mind you're still making plenty of gains naturally. I'd hold off solely for that reason but that's just my opinion.

I'm getting so sick of not having dedicated lifting partners. When I'm home for the summer I can't train with the guys I normally do and it's annoying when people don't take **** seriously. I've had to squat alone for about 4 weeks in a row now and it sucks. I want to go for a new max but I really don't want to try it alone, even with safety bars in the rack. Something about not having people around makes me lose confidence if I'm doing something heavy because I'm so paranoid about injuries.

    Anyways

    Squats
    135 x 10
    225 x 5
    315 x 2
    405 x 1
    440 x 2
    420 x 4

    Standing Calf Raise

    Leg Press

I need to start logging my workouts again. I can never remember exactly what weight I used/how many reps from weeks prior and it's hard to gauge progress sometimes.

    Last back session:

    Deads
    225 x 10
    315 x 5
    405 x 2
    455 x 2
    505 x 4

    Lat Pulldown

    Preacher Curls

Real pissed that I didn't get 5 reps with 505, my grip slipped after the 4th. I usually don't have problems with grip pulling heavy weight but when it's multiple reps I just can't hold it. My hands are small and they sweat a lot, excuse I know lol, but really it's gay. I refuse to use straps on deads.

Dude, how do you think I feel training alone in my garage ALL the time? And it's not even a case of worrying about injuries, it's the lack of atmosphere for a proper motivational atmosphere that you need when you're going for a ME attempt. I've even advertised on this site to come train in my gym for free. Why don't you post here regularly? Yeah, my grip is never an issue until it's for reps and touch-and-go. You're able to use chalk, right?

Here's a couple shots to show how much my waist has shrunk. Holding a lot of water in these, don't know wtf the deal is, thinking about cutting sodium out the best I can.

    Thanks Coke.

    Deads tonight

    225 x 5
    315 x 5
    405 x 5
    475 x 3
    525 x 2
    465 x 7

The plan was 525 x 3 but my back was feeling pretty tight and I didn't feel like killing myself on the third rep. Energy was pretty ****ty tonight, deads wiped me out so I did some half-ass weighted pull-ups and curls afterwards.

Thanks man. Birthday was nothing special, had to work till midnight.

    Legs today

    Squats
    135 x 10
    225 x 5
    315 x 2
    405 x 2
    440 x 4

    Leg Press

    Calf Raise

440 felt nice and light today. I've been wanting to max out for the past month or so but I can never get anybody to go with me to the gym so I'll have to wait till I go back to school in a couple weeks. Bench has been moving a little lately as well, hit 315 x 3 wide grip. I still feel stronger with a wide grip than normal grip and arched back.

Well I'm back in Ann Arbor now and should be on a regular lifting schedule so I'll be updating my journal regularly as well again. I haven't decided what my goals are this fall/winter, I'm really contemplating running a small cycle of test, but if I can't find any sources I'll probably just focus on strength and try to maintain my current bf%.

    Back and Bi's

    Deadlift
    225 x 10
    315 x 5
    405 x 3
    455 x 2
    480 x 5

    Seated Lat Pulldown
    120 x 10
    180 x 10
    220 x 5
    250 x 10

    Barbell Curls
    45 x 10
    95 x 10
    115 x 5
    125 x 5
    125 x 5
    115 x 10

Deads were meh but my lower back has been sore lately for some reason so I'll take what I can get. No more ****ing around with rackpulls every week, looking to pull heavy from the floor a lot more often. Would really like a 600 pull before this school year is over, should have had it a long time ago.
