The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I just checked out the Michigan USAPL site and noticed they recorded my bench wrong from that meet in October. Shows me hitting 253 when I opened with 300, lol. I emailed the meet coordinator about it, once it's updated however I'll hold all the Michigan records for 181 Juniors raw. It already shows me having the squat, dead, and total records, but the record bench is currently 258. Next up - National Records.

Sorry bro but the national squat 181 raw record is going to be mine. At least in the APF it is

I definitely think I've strained something in my pec/shoulder; not exactly sure what muscle it is but it's right up in the armpit. Almost skipped benching today but I got ass raped by an exam this afternoon and needed to take some aggression out. Was kinda nervous before the 315 set as the area that's sore is real close to where I tore my pec about a year and a half ago. Managed a PR somehow, even though I felt like ****.

That's weird. Being a college kid you're supposed to drink when you get raped by an exam. That's the remedy for most. That's the weird thing about the weightlifter/powerlifter.

Skipped speed work today, right armpit area is still real tender. I'm beginning to wonder if it's actually my bicep, where it ties in way up under the shoulder instead of my pec. Shoulder pressing has been pathetic lately, should really start doing heavy push-press again.

Debating picking up on that little habit too. Seems like it'd be a great alternative to alcohol's more negative side effects.

Felt damn strong today, actually tried a 4th rep with 345 but I started feeling that pain in my right armpit and had my spotter grab it instead of risking any injury. 365 was nice and smooth. May try maxing out next week if I feel good enough. I was home for break these last couple weeks and was too lazy to update my log. I did lift but took it kinda easy. I also ate like absolute **** all break, gained a good 4 - 5 pounds. I've definitely put some mass on these last couple months, hopefully I can lean back up just a tad now that I'm not eating cheesecake and cookies all day.

Ya, you need to break 370. I know it's in you. If you skipped the 345, did a single with 355, and jumped to 375, do you think you could make it considering 365 went up smooth after everything before? What's the weight at these days?

Just weighed myself after my shower and I'm right around 190.

I already know I can break my old pr. Wasn't trying to max today, just wanted to get in some heavy singles. I'll try to get my max attempt on video next week if I can remember. I'm thinking somewhere around 380. 315 is starting to feel real light again; long-time goal of mine has been 315 x 10.

Thanks guys. I'm definitely gonna try to record bench on Wednesday. I don't do it very often because the only camera I have is on my phone and I'm nervous about taking it to the gym. There's already been some stolen **** this year.

Definitely a PR pull from that height, about damn time I make some progress. Form wasn't the greatest but my back feels good so I'm not too worried about it. 600 came off the blocks pretty easy, just couldn't lock it out. Same ol' ****.

Hams mainly, lower back as well. My hips just shoot straight up, getting absolutely nothing out of my legs. My lower back arches a lot which makes lockouts even harder once I get to the top position.

Rack pulls have always worked well for me but I'm thinking about trying deficit pulls sometime. No idea if it'll help seeing as my strongest point is right off the ground, but I've never tried them so who knows.
