The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I like the way you hit a couple of big lifts and follow it with a few smaller lifts, and then you're done. I really like the efforts and I'll be checking in more often. Keep up the good work.

Yeah I try to not dink around too much in the gym. I keep my workouts around an hour with fairly short breaks in between sets.

    Back n Bi's

    Sumo Deadlift
    225 x 10
    315 x 5
    405 x 5
    500 x 2
    485 x 8

    Machine Rows
    150 x 10
    175 x 5
    200 x 12
    200 x 12
    175 x 12

    Barbell Curls
    95 x 5
    135 x 2
    155 x 5
    135 x 8
    135 x 7

Wanted to pull heavy today but 500 felt like a million pounds. I think part of it is the fact that I just murdered my legs 3 days ago and my hams just weren't recovered. I need to start training smarter when it comes to heavy compounds, my CNS just doesn't recover as fast when my calories are this low.

Still having form issues, my back wants to take over immediately which is not good with sumo; literally felt nothing in my hams after the set with 485.

My arms have definitely been growing but I know I'm not going heavy often enough so I beat the shit out of them today.

Awesome training as always Nick. I'm curious as to where you stand on calories throughout the week and then how high your refeed day is? From your posts you seem to be achieving the holy grail of growing in places while slowly getting leaner. It sounds like you're in a daily deficit but how much? But where do you calories fall in relation to maintenance on a weekly time span? Are you still in a deficit?

I haven't tracked my cals in quite a while now but I'd guess they're right around maintenance or maybe slightly lower for the week as a whole. Lately I've been eating my ass off on refeed days and not worrying about fat intake. I don't eat like complete shit but I'll have one meal of pizza or something real greasy along with the usual carb-up foods. I can really feel a difference in my metabolism the next few days after and then it starts to taper back off. Off days I keep the cals pretty low, basically shoot for 200 - 250 grams of protein and just enough fat to keep me from feeling like death.

Like a lot of bb'rs say, the mirror is your friend. My body weight fluctuates 10 pounds throughout the week based on glycogen levels so it's too hard to tell if I'm losing fat by the scale alone. I'm lean enough now I can see tiny changes in fat levels each week; as long as I'm leaner right before my refeed than I was last week I keep things the same.

This next month I'm going to experiment with high fat complete shit-feeds vs super low fat, low sugar refeeds. For some reason I always seem to look better when I say fuck it and eat like crap.

Sounds like you're just that flat that you can't get enough cals in eating clean. Definitely keep us posted

Wasn't planning on maxing out on rack pulls today but I was feeling strong so why not. 700 might have been a PR, have to go back through my log and check; all I know is it was heavy as fuck and I can't imagine pulling that much from the floor.

Never used knee wraps on leg press before so I decided to go balls out on my last set. Had a massive headache afterwards and my legs are already feeling stiff/sore.

Starting my experimentation with refeeds; today I will eat whatever, basically a high-fat shit-feed. I'm going to track my macros and next week I will shoot for roughly the same amount of carbs while keeping fats to a minimum. The following week I will do the same, while keeping sugar to a minimum as well.

Also gonna start playing around with making my own pre-workout stack. Picked up some B6 and B12 to go along with a couple other things I've been using. I've never tried using B vitamins for energy, we'll see how it works.

Lolz. Yeah I expected a little more from an IFBB pro pulling max effort from that height.

Well don't copy the big body builders. Don't strive to be like them, strive to be better! Throw on a double ply squat suit and show em what's up on the leg press. Hahaha.

Lookin lean as fuck today but I know I didn't eat enough on my Friday refeed. Trying to cut down on smoking bud so trying to get in as many cals as possible is a lot harder when you're not baked lol. Didn't quite fill out as much as I wanted, think I weighed 197 right before I went to bed, target weight was 200+.
