The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Thanks Coke. High bar is definitely coming along.

    50 x 10

    Wide Grip Incline Bench
    135 x 10

    185 x 12

    Cable Lateral Raise

Pec felt pretty good during incline which is a real good sign.

Start carb cycling again, also trying to push things even harder in the gym. Want to make the most of these last few weeks of my cycle. I'm going to have my roommate take some pics at the gym maybe a week after my last injection. Way over-due for some update shots.

I dunno, Nick. Looks like you might want to consult a PT.

Ah just commenting on your pec. Did you injure it, or is it just a flexibility or DOMs issue?

Yeah it was injured. I'd say I'm about 80 - 90% right now. Going to try some light db flys next week.

do you do any rehab with it outside of the gym?

I would be rolling it with a lacrosse ball 1-2x/day.. band flyes and presses 2-3x/day (2-3 sets of 30-50 reps).. ibprofin 2-3x/day and icing at least once/day..

my injuries heal in half the time when doing that vs not doing that. just an idea

There's absolutely no pain/swelling. Wouldn't even know I'd injured anything if I never did any pressing/fly movements.

I have been getting ART done for my back, and the guy has been hitting my pecs for me these last couple weeks. I feel that has definitely made a difference.

    ART is great..

just becaue there's no pain/swelling anymore doesn't mean it's fully healed, obv since it hurts when pressing.. with that said, it's never to late to rehab/prehab with stuff I mentioned above. Blood heals. Lacrosse ball breaks up scar tissue and increases blood flow which will increase the rate of recovery. High rep banded flyes/presses will give you a mini pump, flushing fresh blood into the area, increasing the rate of recovery. Ice will constrict the blood vessels and decrease inflammation (if you have any) as your body warms back up, it will flush new blood to that area. See where I'm going with this.

a very aggressive rehab protocol is a very valuable tool to have in your box. Since I've started throwing I've pulled both groins mulitple times, strained an erector, my right bicep twice, my right lat, and my abs 3 times. My average recovery has been about 2 weeks.. due to the aggressive rehab I do.

I used to be real anal about foam rolling and using heat. Been slacking lately.

    Sumo Deadlift
    225 x 10
    315 x 5
    405 x 3
    495 x 1
    535 x 3

    Wide Grip Lat Pulldown
    120 x 10
    160 x 5
    200 x 5
    250 x 5
    280 x 7
    250 x 10

    EZ Bar Curls
    80 x 10
    100 x 5
    120 x 5
    135 x 5

    Cable Curls
    120 x 10
    150 x 5
    130 x 15

Nothing crazy today. Something in my lower lat was tight/pulling, hurt like a bitch when I'd first start my pulls off the floor. Tried to really focus on form with the sumos, lots of leg drive form the get-go.

Weighed close to 220 today with gym clothes on. No clue wtf is going on, I've been eating no carbs and dropping cals a fair amount on off days yet I'm up almost 10 pounds.

You probably have a little bun in the oven.

What's your foot positioning on the sumos like?

Speaking of chest...what sort of things (outside to being persistent and driven) have you done to increase your bench?
