The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

No I'm so lazy when it comes to getting vids in the gym.

Like I said I'm almost 100% sure it's tendonitis. There was a link in that bb.com thread with some really good info, reading it right now.

I know it's not hard. Like I said, I'm a lazy asshole when it comes to certain things.

Thanks for the encouragement Jim. I'm still going to do the meet, was just in a pissy mood last night. I've started looking at houses so I've had a lot of stuff on my mind lately, the shitty workout last night kinda put me over the edge. The good news is I'm pre-approved for the amount I wanted so now the real fun starts.

Next training cycle after my meet I'm going to do dimels pretty much every week. Such a great way to hit your glutes and hams, as well as mimicking the top end/lockout of a deadlift, all without stressing the lower back.

I know what you mean about the houe buying stuff! Growing up sucks haha. I had a purchase pending and the inspector told me some bad news and i called it off. Worst part was i should have saw those problems a mile away but i was being ignorant because i wanted it bad! Live and learn!

Well I finally got my 450. Wasn't a bad lift to be honest, little slow but not a complete grinder. Kind of surprised I got it considering the condition my body is in right now. My elbow is feeling a little better but I still can't do any direct tricep work.

Glad you are digging those dimel deads, planning to move those more to the fore too and target the posterior chain. Also, major props due on the amazing bench!

Took my time warming up and stretched my quads between each set. Very little knee pain today. 505 felt good so I cut it off there. Going to pull heavy singles on Friday so I wanted to take it as easy on my back as possible. I think next week I'll work up to my opener, and possible my second attempt.

Quad stretching has definitely helped with my knees more than anything. I'm very quad dominant and after reading some info on one of the links Jake posted I realized this whole time the problem hasn't been tight hams, but instead tight quads.

if either side is pulling harder than the other (quads vs hams) it's going to lead to problems.. Got to keep them both stretched/rolled regularly

Yep. I dunno why I never thought of it before. Literally never stretched my quads in my life before this week.

Wanted to do heavy singles with close grip, no idea why I chose to do the arnie presses first. Still got a PR but it was slow as shit and felt heavy as shit. Good news is even 400 felt pretty good on my elbow. Should be pretty much pain free by the time the meet rolls around.

Wasn't expecting anything spectacular today. Just wanted to at least hit close to what I'd like to open with. 610 was slow as molasses, but my back feels great and nothing else is sore so I know it's just low energy/smoked CNS issues. I still haven't really taken a full deload in probably 6 months, lol.

Meet is 2 weeks from today. Planning on hitting openers and maybe second attemps on bench and squat early this next week, and then taking the rest of the time off completely. Even though my squats and deads have felt like shit lately, I still think I'm on track to hit some decent PR's once I give my body a good week and a half off.

Last bench session before the meet. I haven't done any heavy paused work, since last meet probably, lol. 435 felt pretty good considering my energy was shitty and I still haven't had a deload yet. Elbow continues to feel better. Planning on opening with 400 and hitting 430 for my second.

Extended my refeed to 48 hours, ate nothing but carbs all weekend and my weight was 210 today so I should have no problem making 198.

Not what I wanted today but I'm not too upset about it. 555 really didn't feel terrible, I think my form was off a little. Just kinda sat there in the hole, spotters had to help me get it moving. Thinking my stance was a little narrow, knees buckled just a tad and I could feel the weight shift forward. I'm still pretty confident I'll be able to hit 550 for my second attempt but it's pretty obvious now that my squat is not even close to where it should be. Lots of work to do next training cycle, pretty fucking pathetic looking back at how little progress I've made in a year.

That bench is massive. Dont be frustrated with your squat man. I squatted 500 raw at 17 years old and i'm now 23 with a 550 raw squat. How do you think i feel? lol.

Decided to change things a little and squeeze in one more bench session. I haven't done much lockout work in a long time so I wanted to hit close grip heavy. Felt awesome. Big PR with 390 x 4. To be honest I don't even give a shit what I squat anymore, I'm just excited to see what I bench next weekend. It's been a very long time since I've been healthy/felt this good.

Meet went pretty good yesterday. 50 pound meet PR on bench which was awesome. Squat was shit which I had expected, though I was still very happy to hit a meet PR. Just barely missed my third dead right at lockout. I posted a vid and write-up in the powerlifting section of the forum.
