The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Pics of me and wifey at PL meet

Here are some pics from the APA Savoy Prairie State Classic powerlifting meet on September 16th. My wife had a 115 raw bench (meet PR), and 300 deadlift (all-time PR) at the meet, both state records for her class. I had a dissapointing meet, just missing 390 on bench and only making my 465 opener (missing 525 twice) on deadlift. Still, I think they are good pictures.

    Nice pics man.

Just a question though, I'm a bit suprised about the 115 raw bench record for your wife, it sounds awfully low to me. Women must really not be good at benching - I'm stunned. Also equally stunned that she can deadlift 300 lbs, thats huge!

"RAW" implies that the bench press is done with no equipment, such as a bench shirt. A lot of people call it RAW (In all caps for some reason). I prefer to call it "Unequipped".

She wouldn't like me posting it, but she's about 135-140 lbs, so she lifts in the 148 class.

Also, there aren't that many women who powerlift, let alone that many who have performed raw in a meet in her weight and ago class in the state of Illinois. Besides, she came THIS CLOSE to benching 125 on her 3rd attempt.

    Sick set of wheels, Guido!

Also, one newbie question. Your raw bench is 280 but your bench with the accessories is 385, what do you use for accessories? Is it just a shirt or is it more things? The reason I ask is because I'd like to know what I can bench with the accessories on.

I have got to meet your wife!

All the women at my gym just sit around and talk about how their menapause is going...using the pink weights and complaining how fat they look. Atleast thats what I got when my mp3 player died in the middle of a workout..

But yea congrats to you and your wife.

Just a bench shirt and wrist wraps. The wraps are there only for support, and don't actually help your bench.
