The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    1st competition results

Overall I'm fairly happy with myself. I royally screwed up on the bench press. I competed in the Junior 82.5kg weight class.

    Squat - 147.5kg - 325.2lbs

Bench - 95kg - 209lbs --> This was on my first attempt. On my second lift I didn't pause long enough (105kg) and on the third my butt came off the bench (110kg). All three lifts went up pretty easy though. I guess I'll have to work on the technique more.

    Dead - 187.5kg - 413.4lbs

    Total -- 430kg - 946lbs

I matched my PB in the gym for squat and beat my PB in the gym for dead by 8.4lbs

I was 40kg short of qualifying for nationals. The head referee came up to me after the competition and told me he wants to see me at nationals. I guess I'll have to make up that difference somewhere and get to another comp before nationals!
    Full Powerlifting
    Squat - 595lbs -- 270kg -- Dec. 31, '09 (Provincial Record @100kg class)
    Bench - 374lbs -- 170kg -- Dec 20, '08 (@100kg class)
    Dead - 589lbs -- 267.5kg -- Dec 20, '08 (Provincial Record @100kg class)
    Total: 1537lbs -- 697.5kg -- Dec 20, '08 (Provincial Record @ 100kg class)
    Bench Only -- 358lbs -- 162.5kg -- Nov. 25, '07 (Provincial Record @ 90kg class)
    Bench Only -- 376lbs -- 171kg -- Jan. 26, '08 (Provincial Record @ 100kg class)

Congrats Deeder! I remember we we're sitting on about the same level for a little while, and your lifts have taken off! Great stuff.

Excellent! Did you learn any secrets to bring back to us?

Risk10k -- Hehe! Good to hear! You'll have to do some catching up!

    clawhammer_33 -- Not really?

Also, I didn't mention before, but the only piece of equipment I wore was my belt. Hopefully once I get (and learn to use) a bench shirt, squat suit, DL suit, knee wraps and wrist wraps I'll be on the same level as all the other geared up guys! That'll probably be a while though! That ****'s too expensive for me... Damn school costing so damn much

Congrats deeder, very fine lifting! You got your first competition under your belt, it only gets easier from here. The one thing you'll find out, is that powerlifting competitions are addictive. You do one, and you wanna keep coming back for more. Great stuff man!

Are there any under 16 powerlifting comps... Id love to have a run at that.
Being a strong teenager means nothing.

My wrists hurt, but some people don't have wrists to be sore. My knees have tendinitis, but some people don't have legs to get tendinitis in. I seem to be going backwards with training, yet some people can't even walk let alone lift 400 pounds on a daily basis.

Dust out the vagina, and keep on lifting.

Well.. I'd have to go to Quebec or BC for another IPF sanctionned one to qualify for nationals... So I doubt that'll be happening because they are both in november and I don't think I could add that much weight to my total by then...

There's one here in Regina December 31st at a gym that just opened... I'll probably compete there. Too bad I can't qualify there though.. I'm sure I could have

Melbournes a 2 hour flight... damn Adelaide. (But we got good woman )

A well, Melbourne has scary woman (buff lesbain chick nearly beat me up!!!)

I guess it might be worth the flight to try and compete in a junior comp.

    Nice lifting!
    Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. At some point in your lifting career (assuming you're planning on getting reasonably strong and big), you're going to have to accept that most people think you are some kind of freak." -Sensei

Looking at your numbers my lifts are about on par with yours and I'm the same weight.

I may have to look to see if there are any competetions here locally. It would be fun.

Good show, deeder. Those are nice lifts for being raw! How was the meet run? Was it overall a good experience?

I second what TommyBoy said in that PL comps are addictive and you'll want to keep doing more! At least that was the case with me.
