The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Car flipping

Since the question was asked, and I actually had an answer, I figured it was worth posting this video at the sake of starting another thread about it. Since it's not a full deadlift and it's more like flipping a tire than an actual deadlift, I'd say it depends on the size of the car and what's all in it. This one felt around 800-850, give or take. Size definitely helps too, I was one of only a handful of LWs who actually got the car, a lot of the MWs and even a couple HWs had trouble with it as well.

Looks like you tried to DL it the first time, then changed to a tire-flipping stance. Nice lifting. What was your weight?

Yeah, the deadlift didn't work out well so I figured since I was trying to flip it, might as well get in the stance. Couple scary moments when a few guys trying to deadlift it dropped it back on their thighs. No big injuries though.

I was about 177 that day since they only had an under-202 class. Took 5th out of 13 that day, not too bad. Some of the HWs made that sucker look like a toy though.

That was awesome. So is picking up the car like deadlifting 800 pounds?

Not really. It's more akin to flipping a tire than anything. Most LW contests usually do 500-650, I've done a 750 before but this one was much heavier.

I can't lift a car I think yet. My deadlift right now is 175 lbs. My friends haven't seen me in like 4 months and I will be going back to my hometown soon. What else can I lift that will be equally impressive? Could I lift the industrial garbage can that is outside of apartment complexes? How much does half of that weigh? Maybe I could lift the end of a big log in the street? Can you guys recommend me things to lift that my friends would be like "WOW"? Keep in mind I am deadlifting 175 lbs X 10. So I could probably deadlift once around 225 lbs. Thanks.

I just wanted to have some proof that I got stronger. I can't take them to the gym and show them what I can lift. So I wanted to know what 'everyday' items I can lift in some way that will prove that I got bigger or stronger.

Well, if you're bigger you must LOOK bigger.
And if you're stronger just flex.

You stated that they havent seen you in 4+months. From your sig it clearly states you were at 155lbs back in July of this year. Its now the middle of October and you claim to weigh 182lbs, there's gotta be some physical changes that will allow them to see some progress.

Keep lifting and dont worry about what they think.

Yeah I guess you are right. I saw 1 group of friends a couple of weeks ago and they all were shocked. I didn't even feel that big. They were asking me to flex and stuff. I don't think I have big arms at all. But then I looked at old pictures of myself and my neck looked skinny. Now my neck is the same diameter of my head almost. I just wanted to show how strong I got to this other group of friends in a couple of weeks. I guess they will notice I got bigger too.
