I go to the gym this morning for my standard saturday morning leg session. I warm up with a walk on the treadmill and do some light stretching before making way to the squat rack. I do a set of 10 reps at 135 for a light warmup. My first working set of 365 is comes next. I lift off with the bar and get my feet set and get about 3 reps done and notice in the mirror 2 dudes standing behind me. On about my 5th rep I go down(to parallel, chronic back problems allow me to go no further) and begin to come back up when this guy puts his hands on the bar and proceeds to push the bar back down! As he pushes it he says "Dude you gotta go further down to do it right."
I let the bar roll off my back and land on the racks causing a crash that gets most peoples attention. I am a very non confrontational person that rarely snaps, so I was trying to maintain my cool when the conversation went something like this:
Me: "Don't you EVER ****ing touch me!"
Dude #1: "Hey I'm just trying to help you do it right."
Dude #2: "Relax man most people appreciate our help."
Me: "I suggest you get away from me right now."
Dude #2: "Or else what?"
Dude #1: "Yeah there's two of us."
2 guys that I see frequently at the gym walk over.
Gym regular #1: "yeah now theres three of us."
Dude #1: "I'm outta here I don't need this **** today!"
I really didn't want it to come to a near group brawl, but I couldn't believe someone would physically get involved with a strangers set.
