The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Your Long Term Goal

I know this is posted alot but people change there mind and outlook on stuff, so i said why not.

Mine, im not sure if i can reach this naturally by the time im early 20's mid 20's, but i will try.

id like to be 275-300 lbs at 18-20% bodyfat, just plain ol thick and strong as hell, like any of the old school strongmen and PLers. I would be training like i am now, strongman and powerlifting with occasional body building. Id like to have 20 inch arms and neck, 30 ish inch legs, 50+ chest and 60+ shoulders, forearms 16-17.

Lifts, well, for the big 3 id like a 400+ bench for reps, and a squat of 600+ for reps, deadlift what ever as long as i can pull 600+ for a rep, i hate deads for reps. I also am a huge fan of the old school 1 arm press and i would like to do 200 lbs some day.

    Yourself???

My goals change as often as my underwear, sometimes even more then that.

As I type this im about 300 ish pounds (despite a crazy mall scale's imput) and probably 30+% BF. This isnt THAT bad since im 5'11 ish with shoes on and have a naturally thick/wide frame.

The bodyfat has to go sub 15%, that alone is pretty much my end game goal. At a bodyweight of 240 pounds or so of course.

Measurements... lets see (keep in mind this is at 15%)

    Arms about 20"
Quads about 28" (jeans are hard as hell to find at 33")
Neck about 20" (necks in anything under 3X just choke me)
    Forearms about 18"
    Chest a good 58"
    Shoulders 66"

    Lifts I guess...

    500 for a 1RM of bench
    750 for a 1RM of squat
    600 for a 1RM of deadlift

Those numbers are all WELL above the national male average, so I could be happy with them.

I sorta want the best of both worlds.. I wana be lean but I aslo want to be big/strong

Be around 290lbs at around 15% BF, which is totally doable. Get progressively stronger, but within reason given my joints and mobility. Basically, cast a bigger shadow than what I do now.

I want to be bigger than I am now...

But seriously, Stump, your description pretty much fits what I'd like to see myself at in a few years.

Stump, you'll get there a lot quicker if you aren't worrying about cutting at this point in your life.
A child does not learn to squat from the top down. In other words, he does not suddenly make a conscious decision one day to squat. Actually, he is squatting one day and make the conscious decision to stand. Squatting precedes standing in the developmental sequence. This is the way a child's brain learns to use the body as the child develops movement patterns. Therefore, a child is probably crawling, rocks back into a squatting position with the back completely relaxed and the hips completely flexed, and stands when he has enough hip strength. This approach makes a lot of sense and can be applied to relearning the deep squat movement if it is lost. -Gray Cook

Or if I want to just be huge I'll probably just shoot for 240-245 at 20% or so. All options would be pushing my genetic limits but, I didnt say it would happen overnight.

300lbs would be a hard goal to reach at only 20%........atleast I think it would be. I'm guessing you'd probably have to be in the 30's bodyfat wise to see that kind of weight....

    we are short

But I also think you should start bulking again if that is your ultimate goal (to be big and strong but not really ripped). But if you want the pack while you're younger then keep on cutting.

Getting to 300 pounds at 30% BF is simple, I've done it with little effort. Getting to 300 pounds at 20% is a whole other ball game.

Right now I am 6'0" 220 lbs. I'd estimate I am somewhere between 16-18% bodyfat. I would like to weight 250 lbs at the same bodyfat percentage, bench 400 for a rep, squat 400 for a rep, and deadlift over 500.

Bench 400 raw, squat 600, dead 600. The bench I should get by next summer, the squat and dead might be a while.

Oh and bodyfat...couldn't care less as long as I can still wipe my own ass.

    Haha, goodluck with that

250 @ 15% would be good. You look like a monster, you have a freaky big bodyweight, and can easily diet down to 10-12% if need be for the beach or whatever.

well, my short term goals r in my sig.

But one day, I am going to deadlift half tonne. 500kg.1100lbs.

    Thats it.

Oh, and look like HeavyBomber before 20
Being a strong teenager means nothing.

My wrists hurt, but some people don't have wrists to be sore. My knees have tendinitis, but some people don't have legs to get tendinitis in. I seem to be going backwards with training, yet some people can't even walk let alone lift 400 pounds on a daily basis.

Dust out the vagina, and keep on lifting.
