I looked it up on mayoclinic.com, and it is a ganglion cyst. I'm not going to a doctor because it says it will go away on its own most of the time. My question is, should I still lift weights? I reallt need to. I'm doing crew this year and pre-season conditioning starts this coming Tuesday. if I don't lift, I don't row. I think it will be alright if I lift a little lighter though. What do you think?

I dont know if you should lift or no but I had one in the same spot. When I played hockey it hurt like hell and eventually had to get it removed. Make sure you massage it as much as you can to push the fluid back where it belongs. And if you do need to get it removed, you'll be out for a while. My doctor scrapped the ***** out of it and any little movement hurt for the first 4 days.

I've had some sort of cyst in my right wrist for years (not sure if it's a ganglion cyst). It doesn't usually give me problems. I did flat barbell bench on Friday for the first time in about 2 months and it was hurting yesterday, presumably because it wasn't used to that kind of stress. I think a wide grip bench press would be the exercise that aggravates it the most, so try to avoid the wide grip and see if that helps.
All cysts in your wrist are ganglion according to mayoclinic.com. It doesn't bother me while I lift, but I can't do pushups, and it hurts to carry my books at school. I carry, I'm estimateing 35-40 pounds of books in the morning. But for example, I'm not doing anything with it right now, and it hurts.

Been there, done that. Hurt like hell for a very long time.
My doc said he could surgically remove it, or it would go away in time if I didn't aggravate it. I was too much of a sissy to let him cut me open, so I took it easy for a while and switched up my routine. It did go away for the most part. Still hurts on occasion, especially after exercises that require a lot of wrist flexibility, but not so much that it prevents me from progressing and growing.
Just try to focus hard on not bending your wrist a lot while you lift, and maybe taking a break from exercises that require a lot of wrist flexibility--power cleans and pushups hurt the most for me. If you have to do pushups, make a fist and do them on your knuckles, keeping your wrists straight.
Take it slow.
Fortunately, you should still be able to do at least 2 of the big 3 without much trouble at all. I never had any problems with the cyst while squatting or deadlifting. Bench press might give you troubles for a while. Try switching to dumbbell presses instead. Doing that helped me to avoid too much wrist movement.
And get yourself a decent back pack for your books. Get that weight off your wrists so you don't make this thing worse.

I have one on my wrist also. My doctor said to just ignore it. It's been about 4 years now and it hasn't bothered me much
5'6", 145 lbs.
I had one on the wrist that did go away. I also had one on the inside part of my thumb. It became really annoying - pain at times, and very unsightly.
Upon removal, it was discovered that it was not a ganglion at all - it was a tumor. Nothing dangerous, but a tumor nonetheless.
I guess my advice would be to get it checked out by a doctor. If it's to the point where it causes pain, I'd say have them cut it out. Especially if you're work pays for it (your a little young, so you might be covered through mom or dad).
you should try homeopathy to have the cyst removed. I'm an 8th grade classical pianist and recently had a ganglion cyst. the hand specialist said i'd need surgery to have it removed and may need reconstructive surgery on my wrist for possible ligament damage and my wrist would never be the same again! so i got my mom's homeopathist friend to mix me up some Ruta-Graveolens and after 3 days the cyst was gone! i have pics of before and after if you're interested. but homeopathy can fix a cyst that doctors say should be removed.

Not sure if my experience is the same as yours, so take it for what its worth...
I've had a couple of ganglion cysts on my knuckles and inner wrist... From research I learned that they are created when synovial fluid escapes the joint and calcifies.
You can crush them and the remnants will dissolve away. You can do this by slamming them on a hard, sturdy table or counter top. Or have someone get a heavy, thick, hard book and slam it on the cyst.
I've crushed two in my life, it was very painful but oddly satisfying.
