I just want to get an idea of the general standards with dips. I just started doing them a month ago, and they have helped me gain back a lot of the upper body mass I lost during a five month lay off. I can confidently say that dips are one of the finest push exercises out there.
Anyway today I was doing BW (180lbs) + 70lbs for 5 x 5. This feels like a lot, as my friends can only seem to do them BW. I can see it increasing steadily for the next few weeks as well. Interestingly this is a good 20lbs more than what I could do with bench back in my benching prime (about 240lbs for 5 x 5). I've actually dropped bench all together now.
So I was just wandering how much others dip.
