    Does cutting cause mood swings?

I think I've read somewhere cutting will cause mood swings. The reason I ask is because I've been having ups and downs..and my diet has been pretty extreme, I haven't really broken it in weeks. I do have depression, so not sure if it's just that or if diet can cause some changes as well...just so I know. Any advice would be great.

I don't knowe if there's anything in this, but if your diet is making you feel depressed you could try going back to a normal diet every 6 weeks for a week. Kind of like cutting intermittantly.

Ya just not sure if it's my diet to blame. I have depression aside from diet. I was wondering if diet is a factor of mood swings(not necesarilly acting on them, but knowing they are there)...I think it is. I just wanted to keep in mind when I get them that it's just my cutting and I need to get over myself.

It wouldn't make me quit cutting either way, I was just curious Thanks though! I usually do go for cheat meals occasionally...I've just been wrapped up in my determination..need to chill out LOL.

I'm a total ******* on a cut. Especially when or after watching my roommates walk in the door with fast food or going out to eat with friends and sitting there with a glass of water.

From what I have seen and experienced, yes. Some take it one way and others take it another. You are starving your body if you are talking about cutting for competition.

I get very sleepy, not hungry, and grumpy as all hell.

Ya, I thought so. I'm not cutting for a competition, but I'm taking diet to the next level from what my body was used to...so ya probably gave my moods a little jolt since my body is mad it's losing all it's precious fat...dumb bastard body I *will carve you.

do a search. it's just adjusting diet to lose fat while maintaining muscle, generally speaking.

you need to drop your cals gradually while cutting. cold turkey is alot of change for your body. it is used to what your normal diet is, that's where its comfort zone is............. add 500 cals to your diet, then cut them back hundred by hundred week by week

That's when you shave off, or just completely remove, parts of your body in order to lose weight. It's the fastest way to lose weight out there!

...But some people say it's the phase where you attempt to lose body fat while holding on to as much muscle as possible after a bulk diet.

I've only been lifting seriously again since Nov 6th or so. At the same time I dropped to 2k cals or so a day, and what I always notice is that my patience is about zero when I do this. I don't know if its being tired from lifting or just not eating what I used to.

Yes. Cutting can cause mood swings but they usually arent too severe.

It has to do with energy levels, and blood insulin.

When you drop below a certain amount of glucose, your brain has trouble functioning. It runs off that glucose. If you are cutting a lot of carbs, then it's entirely possible that you could be feeling depressed as a result. Longer term low carb diets do this to you. You have to get pretty low though. I'm about to go on a cut for a few months (alternating 6weeks on a few days rest etc) Good luck.

that would be nice to have food that would bump up the GI level without adding a lot of cals. I guess an orange isn't that bad, at around 75 cals.
