My bench? Even new it wasn't worth much, and that was a long time ago...
My weights? A more motley crew wouldn't be found in a circus
My chin up bar? An old ez-curl bar, which after being bent, was hung from the ceiling by a pair of hooks
My lat pull down machine? A pulley and a rope, with a dumbbell tied to one end
I've got a house, two cars, four kids, and a stay-home wife on one salary, folks! Dad gets the scraps. To be honest, I'm pleased to have been able to make-do like this.
And hehe, I spend the rest of my play money on FOOD!
sweet dude. its most satisfying lifting when you have made some of your equipment. i'm gonan make the same sorta thing you did for my lat pull down.
The lack of equipment makes your dedication and gains that much more impressive. Good job
I meant to say, this is how I got started too...using my dad's ancient 200-odd lb bench, A rusty set of weights and a steel pipe hanging from the floor joists! It's still a bunch o fun tho eh...
Dammit man, from one old dude to another, it sounds to me like you've got everything you need. A home, a wife, kids, cars, [dogs?] and a home made training station. You are set for life.
Seriously, what else is there?
You should be bragging, not complaining.
Lifting is exciting, fun, beneficial, and even slightly addictive, but it can't compare to a happy, stable family. That you have the pleasure of enjoying both is bound to make some members jealous.
Now, go get strong.

Last time I checked, bench press wasn't a part of weightlifting.
