The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Oh I agree, bodyweight for reps sounds ace. Gah that makes two competitions I need to compete in. You should make the finish date the same as the squat one, so there is one epic day of competitionuhness!

awe im gonna suck at this challenge i hate the bench, but ill play anyways

i weigh around 175 right now i got it for two the other day- thats all i was goin for but i doubt i could have gotten much more
Way down this road, in a gym far away, a young man was once heard to say, "I've repped high and I've repped low, No matter what I do my legs won't grow."

He tried leg extensions, leg curls, and leg presses, too. Trying to cheat these sissy workouts he'd do. From the corner of the gym where the big men train, Through a cloud of chalk and the midst of pain.

Where the big iron rides high and threatens lives, Where the noise is made with big forty fives. A deep voice bellowed as he wrapped his knees, A very big man with legs like trees.

Laughing as he snatched another plate from the stack, Chalking his hands and monstrous back, Said "Boy stop lying and don't say you've forgotten, Trouble with you is you ain't been SQUATTIN"

Thanks man. I don't train for strength really... That 310 RM was the first time I've maxed out in over a year. My all-time 1RM was 325 a few years ago.

That's phenomenal. I've never seen a girl at the gym using more than 95lb on bench.

I'll try for 6 of 170, maybe get it up to 8 of 170 by the time the competition is done. I lost some weight while I was sick, I think I am under 170 now.

If your max is 335, I really can't see you getting more than 20 with 205, hopefully you prove me wrong.

Comp sounds fun, 165 x 15 would be sweet for me.

If I could bench, I'd definitely be in. I think my best was 23-25 reps, but that was a few months ago.

I like the idea of making it the same date as the squat challenge too.

I just might try this today. I'm gonna drop a few lbs and get down to 200ish (at 203 now). I think I should be good for ~15 reps.

Looks like plenty of people wanna join in, excellent. I'll set the deadline as the same as the squat challenge so start working those high reps.

immortal - haha trust me man i'm not much for high reps.

DiViN - I'm sure he could get around that man my max is 325 and i've gotten 22 reps of 205 before.

    Ahem... 158..

I'm good at heavy weight low reps man, when was the last time you saw me bench more then 8 reps. I think everyone has a good shot at this contest.

Heh I just maxed at 200 LBs, I might be able to push 225-2, or 3 in a few months though.

I wish I could enter this one but it looks like I might never be able to touch bar to chest again without reinjuring my shoulder. Have to settle for the squat contest once I can hold the bar in place across my shoulders without tweaking my shoulder.

Looking forward to the results, though.
