    very serious gym question

Ok so here's my problem. I work in downtown Indy and the only gym within a walkable distance is an exclusive gym for gay people. They'll accept straight people but I think it's a place you can rent out rooms as well. But it is a gym first. Also clothing is optional except on the weights. Clothes required there.

Given that knowledge, would you or would you not join that gym or just stick with the hotel cardio machines while in town? I'm in town 4 days a week.

I'm secure enough in myself that it doesnt bother me seeing other guys walking around, even if they're gay. I want a good work out and I focus out the world anyways. Plus if someone hits on me I guess I'll be a little flattered. I couldnt get a tour because they wouldnt let me in without paying but I can get a tour if the manager guy is there.

I would normally just say forget it it's probably some commercial gym for gay people. But from what I hear from there as well as the hotel front desk is that its LOADED with weights and equipment. If it's got great equipment, why not?

What do you guys think, discuss.

Honestly bro ... I would workout there if that was all they had .

I dont care about gay dudes ... but I would rather have a bunch of hot chicks there .

Just do it. Who cares. Your sig says you like girls, and you say you're secure in yourself so there shouldn't be a problem. Take the tour first, and see if you like the gym itself. That's all that should really matter.

Just get a shirt that has "Heterosexual" lettered across the back. I don't see a problem really, but I might feel uncomfortable about the rooms....

Clothing required on the weights... does that mean that clothes are optional on the cardio equipment? Just had a bad visual

The guy that works at the front desk is apparentally a member and he says its got loads of stuff as well as a heated swimming pool, dry and wet sauna and whirlpools and stuff like that. That's sounds really cool so I'll set up a tour during lunch one day this week and see what is actually there. The YMCA is about 7 blocks away which isnt too far but they close at 10 and this place is 24/7.

Of course. That pretty much goes without saying.

having worked in gyms in a pretty gay city - i'd say go for it, but watch out for the steamroom, sauna and showers. maybe even the whirlpool.

What the hell gym is that? Interesting that we have an all gay gym in the middle of a red state like that.

There are a bunch of Cardinal Fitness locations all over town. They kinda suck, but it's better than nothing.

A gym I use to belong to had three locations and one was used by gay men mostly. I did not know this before I went. Its not like I was attacked or propositioned, but you do kind of feel like a girl who walks into a bar of all guys. I say not my scene, b/c most guys like to rock out with their c*cks out in the locker room, there was no covering up, also I went into the steam room and I just felt real uncomfortable, I like space and there was tons of room and some guy just sat down right next to me.

Mostly the atmosphere in the gym was just lame. No one was pushing themselves, it was a bunch of curl jockeys and just kind of irritating. If you are a self motivator then you'll be good, but I like to see dudes pushing tons of weight. That was my experience, but not saying that the gym you may go to will be like this.

Clothing optional at a heated pool and hot tub?....

Just put in your headphones, grab a protein shake, and concentrate on lifting. (please wear clothes)

I would just be worried that people (coworkers, classmates, etc) would see me going in there and get the wrong idea.

I dunno if I would go there or not. The "clothing optional" thing is a little sketchy.

dude, that's not just a gym, that sounds like a bath house. Do not go there. I don't think it's the environment you want and it represents the very worst of the gay community. Walk the extra 7 blocks. While there are gay friendly gyms out there or gyms with a gay clientelle, you don't expect to see people having sex there. People are clothed and there are no "sex rooms". This def. sounds like a bath house.

I didn't know they made gyms for gay homosexuals. Theres no way in crap I would but you seem more open, so I'd suggest you just get a day pass, feel things out a lil before you make the ultimate sacrifice. Just don't order a ''protein shake'' from the juice bar.

I would veiw it. BUt the fact theres gay poeple lifting wouldn't be a reason for me not to lift.

I've known my share of gay friends in the past (All gave excellent girl advice) and frankly they all said if you tell the normal gay guy your straight they automically turned off. They want a gay guy. They don't want a straight guy.

Put it this way, a gay guy would hate making out with you, just as much as you'd hate making out with him.

Also seeing as you don't got a prob with gays I don't see a reason not to lift there. I would, if it was an only option.

I prob wouldn't take a shower and stay out of the locker room asmuch as possible though. Just would feel uncomfortable.

imo a place to lift is a place to lift- location is key!

just curious do they let women in?
Way down this road, in a gym far away, a young man was once heard to say, "I've repped high and I've repped low, No matter what I do my legs won't grow."

He tried leg extensions, leg curls, and leg presses, too. Trying to cheat these sissy workouts he'd do. From the corner of the gym where the big men train, Through a cloud of chalk and the midst of pain.

Where the big iron rides high and threatens lives, Where the noise is made with big forty fives. A deep voice bellowed as he wrapped his knees, A very big man with legs like trees.

Laughing as he snatched another plate from the stack, Chalking his hands and monstrous back, Said "Boy stop lying and don't say you've forgotten, Trouble with you is you ain't been SQUATTIN"
