The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Unless you have a severe disability then anyone with enough determination can.

this isnt to boast it to motivate people to step up....
Okay, then my goal is 520 but if I get to 520 I'll have to gain more weight and then it won't be double again.

You need to be realistic in your expectations of others. You've been relatively short you're whole life, correct? So how can you come on here and say that taller people are capable of it, but they just don't have the motivation, when you've never been tall, or had to push the bar up an extra 6-10 inches for each rep? Some people just aren't genetically capable of a double weight bench press due to their body type, and it's insulting for you to come in here and say the only reason we can't do it is because of lack of motivation.
i saw a 6'3" guy bench double his body weight raw in my last competition, he was pretty tough in the masters division, take a wider grip?

why do you have to gain weight to lift more? there are things you can do like lose fat % or work on form etc.

I'm with Guido. What's with all the ****ing fuss over a Double BW Bench? Granted you have to be a strong mfer to pull it off, but a Triple BW Dead is insane. Think about it. How many AT LEAST 2 x BW benches do you see at competition? Now how many 3 x BW Deads do you see? I guarantee you the first number will be much much larger than the second. If you've got a 2 x BW Bench, I'm happy for you, but I don't find it nearly as impressive as something like Belial's sick ass 3 x BW pull.

Fuck, fight, or hold the light.

480 was 3x bodyweight on dead for me, i've gotten 495 though so i'm at 3.09x bodyweight.

But chub the reason theres so many double bodyweight benchs in competitions is because of the bench shirts man. Without them there'd be far less then there are triple bodyweight deadlifts.

Psh, 2x is nothing! If you want to be even considered for the Chinese national olympic team, you have to get somewhere near 3x your bw for clean and jerk... and they're a bunch of guuuuurls!

but the topic is those who can do it raw
    (without bench shirts)
last competition there were 4 or 5 people who doubled their bodyweight raw.
with a bench shirt you need to be getting triple your bodywieght before its tough.

    2x

most org. say you should only have a 1.5 times bw bench and a 2.5 squat and a 2.5 dl. So i would say that 2x bw bench and 3xbw sqaut would aslo go the same for dl 3xbw 150 my body ls would only be 450, im only a little less than 100lbs away from the now and only been deadlifting for 11 or 12 weeks. not that impressive to me, bench benching for a long ass time. Hell how many people can curl their body lbs. Im 8lbs away.
