The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

How much weight did you gain from bulking?

Just kind of curious how much weight people gained from bulking in certain time criteria? Kinda like a poll....

Lets say in A. 1 Month B. 6 Months C. 1 year, If you bulked for that long.

I know theres sloppy and clean bulking so results will vary depending which way you decided to put on weight....But Im curious to hear how much any which way you decided....

    A) 10 pounds
    B) 35 pounds (could have easily been 40, but a major professional exam got in the way)
    B.5) I have no doubt it'll be 50 pounds by 3/1/07
    C) Not many people bulk for a year

I'v only been bulking since 11/14/06 but I started at 181.5 and Im now averaging 194.5....some days I'll be 197.5 others I'll only be 192....depending on time of day, whether I'v eaten, worked out, or used the bathroom.

Just curious cause today is 1 month for me and I'v gained 13lbs....the first week or two pounds were magically appearing from shakes, protein bars, and poultry, fish, and all kinds of goodies....now in the last week I'v hit a hard spot where I'm having trouble keeping an accelerated gain but that Just means I have to eat harder and train harder....

Either you guys are genetic freaks or you're doing something that noone else knows about... I'm up 15 lbs in a month and not all of it is muscle... you ask any body builder and they are going to tell you when they bulk it's not all muscle, your body can't distinguish between calories going to muscle and fat, meaning, you're gonna put on fat and muscle at the same time. To answer your question, I wouldn't put on more than 3-4 lbs a week. I've seen the similar plateau w/ my weight too recently, just have to eat more and work harder and rest more.

True, but I think on your first real bulk, when you're starting out as a skinny bastard, it's easy to put on quality weight fast.

    To answer the question:
    A: About 12-14 lbs I think
    B: 47-48
    C: I wouldn't bulk that long ever.

Yeah, radiohead, you got it, you put it all on then you cut... I started at about 204 and I'm around 217ish, I'm going to get fat until 230 then cut to 215, who knows, maybe more, the point is that you'll net more muscle by bulking. It's just part of the cycle. (non steroidal)

First bulk was about 150->190 in 2.5 months. Then 175->185 in 2 months without gaining much fat at all. The rest of my life I've spent ****ing up and not lifting, then doing damage repair to get back to where I was, which means cutting. Enjoy.

I bulked for about a year fairly cleanly. Nobody's perfect though.

I hit 195 (I'm actually 175 now, but I'm almost up to the same strength as when I was 195) starting at 155.

I did start to get a gut, so I started cutting. I've pretty much scrapped the cut and now I'm concentrating on strength alone. I'm not too concerned with bodyweight, but I'd like to stay around 175-180.

Anyway, 40 pounds in a year.

I was a fat 345lb slob about 3 yrs. ago then became a cardio bunny for a year, lost about half that weight and then some, managing to get down to 169lbs. Started weight training and bulking up about 6 mos. ago and now currently at 195lbs.
