The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Single leg squats?

What weight would I expect to start with for these? 50% of my regular squat weight? Any experiences?

I'd imagine it is different for everyone. Just mess around til you find what you can do, the right way.

Bodyweight will be hard enough. If you can squat 225lbs, I can't see anybody doing ~112lbs single leg squat without falling over.

Look in the video section for "extremepullups" videos. He's doing single leg squats in there. They're hard.

My 1RM for regular back squats is 270. I did one legged with dumbells (other foot up on a bench behind me) and ws using 40 lb dumbells for my working set. I thought it was going to be a warmup

Are you doing pistols (free leg is straight in front, not touching ground) or are you doing a lunge type thing like redspikey described?

If pistols, it's highly unlikely you'll be able to do them without weight, let alone 50% of your back squat weight.

Not pistols, I was gonna do them with the off toe behind me on a bench or box. I just did Crossfit's WOD ten minutes ago (a 3 round Jackie, subbing SDLHPs for the rowing, plus thrusters), so I doubt my quads will be able to take it tomorrow as I had planned. Maybe Sunday-monday. My ass is whipped right now.
