    A Little Guidance

I'm 16, I am 6"1 and 132 pounds, so I'm quite badly underweight, my BMI is about 16%. I'm pretty new to building my body, I'd say I have good abs and decent biceps for my age, although I think my pecs are poor. Overall I have a pretty skinny physique. I wish to gain some weight so I'm maybe 160 pound. I am considering progain, my diet sucks and my metabolism is really fast so i recognise I may have to improve my diet, any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Eat. Squat. Deadlift. Bench. Eat. Sleep.

Thats the most basic advice someone will give you.

How many calories a day are you currently consuming? I would start at eating your maintence levels (1980) and then adding about 150 cals a week until you reach a level that you are gaining about 1 lb a week (maybe around 2400 cals). Lots of protein, lots of healthy fats, and good quality carbs.

As for routines, look into Baby Got Back and Bill Star 5x5.
Use the search forum on here as well!

Overpriced supplement. Plenty of other powders out there that are cheaper and give a lot more than 3 pounds per bottle.

then maybe you need to get 6000 calories a day.

Also go talk to your doctor about an overactive thyroid.

You "could" eat? Have you ever tried it? Eat more. And I agree with the above about getting your thyroid checked.

But could you do it consistantly for months on end? And have you tracked your intake to see what you are actually eating? I used to be this way and found out I was barely eating 2000 a day.

You checking the symptoms is irrelevant. Go get your thyroid checked by a doctor. That's the only way to know. And being 6'1" and 132 pounds qualifies as a symptom. I'm almost a foot shorter than you and I weigh more.

Thanks, I suppose not, I'll give it a go.
Track your average calories for a week on www.fitday.com and then report back to us. I'm curious to see what you're currently eating. Good luck!

Scarz is right, 6' 1" and 132lbs is definitely underweight, go have your doc take a look at it.

Ok well there it is thanks for the help, not even 1300 *shocked* I think this will really help, the reason its pretty low is that I havent eaten much today because I was ill, but I really didn't know it was so low, usually I'd have some breakfast and a good few snacks. Thanks very much for this, it's a real eye opener.

How about instead of *thinking* you could eat 4000 calories, you actually do it.

Most of the time, there are very simple answers to what people think are complex problems. In this case, the answer is stuffing your mouth with food...and MORE than you are used to!

you NEED to get atleast 150 grams of protein a day, no wonder you arent making any gains. Get 3000+ cals and 150g protein a day and then check your progress in a week.

Thanks Holywars, I managed 2300 today which isn't too bad plus I'm still a bit under the weather, don't know what I can eat to increase this my body can't take much more food, I'm still quite short of the protein amount, anything I can do about that? I'm struggling to find enough foods. I know you'll say meat but I can't just go to the fridge and meat, lol!
