The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Big O Boy - Trust me man I am too... the current gym kills me. Once the new equipment gets here i'm gonna go balls ****ing out so when I get back in the summer I can get to Southside with Drew and be ready to bench 400+ off the bat in my Rage.

BigCorey - Thanks man, I was straight up homeless for a few months on a couple different occasions but luckily I have great friends and was able to move around New England staying with them. As long as you've got booze and weights though its all good.

Stump - Thanks man, keep workin that bench cause when the new stuff gets here mines gonna sky rocket

    Liftingkid - Hell yah man.

Coke - Yah it should have everything I need really, im pretty pumped.

Yesterday was a hell of a day, I just didn't have time to post any of it. In the morning I had to get up early so I could light meter and MPT major named Thaddeus's film shoot since no one else around here has a freakin light meter. Then I went to the gym and trained Ed and Mizel and had them do there first ever deadlifts. They each managed 225 3x3 with pretty solid form on deads on their first day which I think is pretty impressive.

After my workout I had to shower quick and then run over to another dorm so a 3D-Animation major could model my torso for her sculpting class. That took much longer then I thought and standing still is very very boring... Then I had to quickly grab my camera equipment and run to China Town to shoot the Chinese New Year Parade which was HUGE.

Today is job hunting time on top of having to get a bunch of work done.

I have question what do you consider working sets and what do you consider still warm up on bench you seem to be up and down on reps and weights It confuses me a little

    WBBIRL - Thanks man.

    Chub - Thanks.

Slepto - For this bench settup im building up to a heavy single, double, or triple and then dropping down for higher rep work sets. 225 was the end of warmups then I progressed up in weight to a decently heavy triple with 295. From there I dropped it to 275 for a 3x5 and then did some close grip work.

BigCorey - Haha I already called you boys out in stumps journal big man. Next week i'll match 275 x 8+2.

sucks about the gym bro... Benching is looking great, though. I wish I could join in on this bench war, but it'd be better to let my shoulder heal.

    Thanks guys..

Todays workout went pretty well. My buddy brought to my attention that my left arm is flaring out before my right and my left pec does feel a little funny so I need to watch that. I blame the weird ghetto bench since this was never a problem before.

    285 x 2
    295 x 1

    305 x 1
    225 x 8

    Dips -

Standing Dumbell Shoulder Press (Short Breaks) -
    30 x 8
    35 x 8

    90 x 8 (Close Grip)
    115 x 5 (Bench Grip)
    125 x 5 (Bench Grip)
    135 x 5 (Bench Grip)
    80 x 15 (Bench Grip)

Close Grip Low Cable Rows -
    x 10

Real strong workout. Do you think you will keep the plyos around once you go back to a real powerlifting split again?

Nice call out on my goals Kev. I really have to give my benching a rest if I want to even dream about that weight... 360-370... I've got a good 25-35 lbs to go.

edit: your last benching session was like a roller coaster ride man. You still ended up hitting over 300 lbs... sweet.
