The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing: "roller-coastery". Still man, your conditioning is improving greatly if you can handle all this volume now so you'll be in great shape once you start getting back into the PLing.

Yah im enjoying repping heavy weight and then going for heavy singles, I feel it willl help keep my strength up while conditioning as well as get me better at handling heavier weight.

Todays workout was exhausting. It felt like it was 100 degrees in the gym today and its real hot outside so i'm pretty beat.

    Light Lower/Upper Day:

    *Rotator Cuff Stuff*
    *Light Stretching*

Conventional Deadlift (30 Second Rests) -
    135 x 5
    135 x 5
    185 x 5
    185 x 5
    225 x 5
    275 x 3
    295 x 3
    275 x 5
    275 x 5
    275 x 5

Snatch Grip Deadlift (20 Second Rests) -
    185 x 5
    185 x 5
    185 x 5
    185 x 5
    185 x 5

    DB Hang Snatch -
    40 x 15
    45 x 12
    50 x 10

BB Bench (20 Second Rests) -
    115 x 20
    115 x 15
    115 x 12
    115 x 10

    Tricep Press Downs -
    x 10
    x 8
    x 6
    x 4
    x 10

    BB Power Curls -
    45 x 10
    95 x 5
    115 x 3
    115 x 3

    DB Side Bends -
    50 x 20
    50 x 20

    *DB Hammer Curls*
    *Core Work*
    *Rotator Cuff Stuff*
    *Stretching*

Everything felt a little sluggish due to the heat. The several miles of walking a day is really fatiguing my legs I think my deadlift is actually gettin weaker haha. I'm gonna stick with conventional for a while yet though and see where it takes me, its feeling good so far. Gym's closed next week for spring break but i'll figure something out.

Big o Boy - Haha thanks man. I rarely do curls other then db hammers but I see strongmen doing powercurls and what no so I thought i'd give them a try. They made my right elbow hurt like a MOTHER ****ER so they probably won be done again anytime soon.

Stump - Thanks man it was pretty exhausting.

Coke - Hopefully my dead strength will shoot back up once I start powerliftin again.

Sharkall - Yah man im trying to get sweaty while I lift these days to cover my cardio haha, that and all the ****in walking I have to do every day.

I'm glad you're digging the west coast! I'll try to take a trip down to SF in the summer - SIL lives there.

Maybe you can come up and visit? I'll let you crash here if you can get your sorry ass to Vancouver!

Meh.. today was a crappy day and my workout reflected this. Low energy and alot on my mind but I went anyway and had to actually go to Crunch. I hate crunch but it was nice to be able to do rack lockouts again, my strength was crap though.

    Heavy Upper Day:

    *Rotator Cuff Stuff*

    BB Bench -
    45 x 12
    135 x 8
    185 x 8
    225 x 8
    265 x 8
    275 x 4 gah..
    285 x 2 gah..

    Rack Lockouts -
    275 x 8
    315 x 8
    365 x 8

    Incline DB Bench -
    60 x 8
    75 x 8
    80 x 6 gah..

    Pullups -
    x 10
    x 10
    x 7 gah..

    Plyometrics:

    Slams -
    x 10
    x 10
    x 10

    Overhead Toss -
    x 10
    x 10
    x 10

    *Punching bag for a while*
    *Rotator Cuff Stuff*

As you can see, a very uneventfull workout. I need to get myself out of this funk i've been in and get my fire back.

For what it's worth, you're looking mighty ****in' strong to me, bro. I know what you mean about the fire. I hate when I can't get pumped up to lift big. Do some searching, and tear that **** up.

Looks strong to me Kev... just a bit off maybe. That's all. Rack lockouts look strong, bro. You should slap a shirt on and see what you can do.

    Thanks everyone.

Todays workout started off no too great but turned out to be awesome. I wanted to just add 10 lbs to each of the sets when I did the 8/6/4/2 the other week but I jumped 20 lbs after the first set which kinda threw me off but then I hit some solid singles after all the rep work, my endurance is gettin better.

    Heavy Upper Day:

    *Rotator Cuff Stuff*

    BB Bench -
    45 x 12
    45 x 10
    135 x 8
    185 x 5
    225 x 3
    265 x 3
    285 x 3
    260 x 8
    280 x 6 (meant to do 270x6)
    290 x 3
    300 x 1
    310 x 1
    320 x 1

Close Grip Dumbell Floor Press -
    50 x 12
    50 x 12
    50 x 12

    Dips -
    x 20
    x 15
    x 10

    Press Downs -
    x 10
    x 10
    x 10

    Chest Supported T-Bar Rows -
    45 x 10
    70 x 8
    90 x 8
    115 x 8
    125 x 8
    135 x 8

    DB Rows -
    50 x 12
    50 x 12
    50 x 12

    Plyometrics:

    Lateral Box Pushoffs -
    level 3 x 30
level 4 x 30 (Holding Medicine Ball Above Head)
level 5 x 30 (Holding Medicine Ball Above Head)
level 5 x 30 (Holding Medicine Ball Above Head)

    *Hammer Curls*
    *Rotator Cuff Stuff*
    *Light Stretching*

The new gym equipment still isnt here which pisses me off and dooms me to more workouts with dumbells no higher then 50.. Im pretty pleased at hitting 320 after all the rep work I did. All in all it was a pretty solid workout.
