The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Mike G - Thanks man!

    Big o Boy - Mwahahah *evil laugh*

    Bill - Thanks and aside from deadlifts no really. Theres no squat rack, cage, or anything so aside from deadlifts im stuck with upperbody until they get the new equipment.

    If you do compete, you better set those 165 18-19 records high. Cuz I'm gonna break em in a couple years, lol.

    Heading bacek home in 2 days and i'm actually looking forward to a little break and seeing some friends. I plan to work all summer and then get an appt. out here with some friends for Fall Semester and probably to stay out here for good. This semester was busy and I barely got to work out but they just put a brand new gym in with a ton of new equipment so next semester will go much better, plus i'll be able to cook my own food which is key since the food here is terrible and completelly killed my diet / made me feel like ****.

    I saw alot of good shows though..

    Spearhead /f Keller Williams @ The Warfield
    Dragonforce / Chimera / some others I didn't know @ The Warfield
    Victor Wooten @ The Filmore (incredible show)
    Muse @ The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (holy crap, huge venue awesome stage show, great time)
    Huge Regee Festival @ The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (Real good time)
    Festival at Golden Gate Part /f Bob Weir & Ratdog, The Marley Brothers, lots more @ Golden Gate Park

    Not to mention the 4/20 festival and lots of other great times. Halloweens supposed to be crazy so next semester should be fun. Should be back in the iron game pretty quick but it outta be a boring and light start so don't expect anything too impressive.

    We know what you were doing at those concerts... and that stuff out there on the west coast is much stronger and fresher then back east....

    Anyway... sounds like you are doing good in school... and that is what really counts!! GL with the last couple of weeks... and if you get back and in shape, there are a couple of contests going on around NE.. a few of them raw too.. in July and August...

    Liftingkid - With his lady and kid on the way I doubt he'd have time but who knows.

    Bearwolf - Haha yah I indulged a bit while I was out there but im pretty convinced the sickness was caused by stress. I'm feelin good now though and as soon as I get a job and some money I wanna renew my gym membership and buy a bag of whey.

    Wow...

    I just had my first exercise session in many months and im actually taken back.. hah.

    I did..

    100 Bodyweight Squats
    100 Pushups
    25 Pullups
    Stretching

    By the end of these should be easy exercises I was winded, light headed, nauseous, way too tired considering there was no weight involved.. and just overall dissapointment. Granted its extremelly hot out, i've been out of the game for many months and my diets been crap I still can't believe just how out of shape I am. Gotta get back on track..

    Wasn't aware I had 4 journals going.. this one will do.

    Asked mods to close the other journal I started on the new account since I remembered my password for this one. Here are some recent workouts I originally posted in there.

    * DB Hammer Curls
    * Pull-Aparts (Monster Mini)
    * Sled Work

    295 x 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wx_AXsCTU0
    315 x 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VETIRnoHE4

    DE Lower:

    Front Squat 135 x 12 / 185 x 8 / 185 x 8

    * Standing DB Shoulder Press
    * Rolling DB Extentions

    ME Lower:

    BB Squat - 245 x 5 / 265 x 5 / 275 x 3 / 295 x 3 / 315 x 3 / 245 x 10 / 245 x 8
    * BB Front Squat (Light)
    * Back Extentions
    * Lots of core work

    This thread is obviously very very old thus the reason i've edited the title. For anyone who doesn't know me...

    Name: Kevin
    Age: 25
    Weight: 161
    Height: 5'4"

    I'm a big fan of powerlifting and strength training in general and was very consistent for many years including doing a few competitions here and there. The past 3-4 years have been riddled with injuries, moves, and extreme lifestyle changes.

    I'm now currently situated in Burlington, VT where I have yet to find a decent strength training gym with all the tools I enjoy. Currently i'm just trying to my base back considering I was as strong if not stronger when I was 17-18 than I am now at 25..

    Anyway, i'll be posting mostly WS-esque workouts for a bit while I hibernate through this awful winter (not a fan of snow) but will be modifying and incorporating some new things too to switch it up a bit.

    Nice to be back..again. Looking forward to posting.

    DE Upper:

    BB Floor Press (Narrow Grip) - 225 x 5 / 245 x 5 / 265 x 3 / 275 x 3 / 285 x 2
    * DB Bench
    * Reverse DB Fly's
    * Standing DB Shoulder Press
    * Standing Cable Row's to Abdomen
    * Low Cable Row's
    * Dips
    * Rot-Cuff Stuff

    Still noticing some shoulder/torso twisting it seems on the heavier sets of my pressing post foot injury. Foot is fine now but it feel's like my bench form has regressed and my body is still in compensate mode or something. More DB work, must correct.

    DE Lower (not really):

    BB Squat -
    225 x 8
    255 x 5
    275 x 3

    BB Deadlift (Conv.) -
    275 x 1 x 2
    295 x 1 x 2
    315 x 1 x 2
    335 x 1 x 2
    275 x 1 x 4

    * Ankle Loader Leg Curls
    * Core Work
    * RotCuff Stuff

    (Weight x Reps x Sets)

    Decided to give deadlifting a shot after not having done any in over a year, and even when I did still pull I pulled sumo. Conventional is feeling better than it honestly ever has and i'm sure the closer stance squatting is having some nice carry over. Everything felt smooth and relatively light, especially from below the knee to lockout. Of the floor could use a bit of work but i'm sure I just need to get used to it again. Was intending to do 10-12 singles of 275 but went up in weight instead highschooler-ego lift style.
