Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Large increse in calories

Is a sudden jump from 1000 to 3 or 4000 per day bad? Will it shock the body and result in more fat gain then muscle

A "sudden jump" like you said would be bad. If nothing else you would probably get stomach cramps or diarrhea. Your body isn't ready for a quick commitment of such a higher level of food consumption. You should raise your calories about 250-500 per week.

By the way, I hope you have not been eating only 1,000 calories per day very long. You are starving yourself and losing any muscle mass you may have already had. You may be trying to lose weight but what you are actually doing is losing mass and not fat. Your goal is to lose fat and hopefully, not that much weight.

To answer your question with a quality response, we would need to see your diet and your routine in detail.

Note: I ate more than 1,000 calories in peanuts yesterday....

One more thing - I may have read and understood the original post incorrectly. If you are eating 3,000 calories and plan to go to 4,000 then I would still raise my calories slowly - Week 1: 3,250 Week 2: 3,600 - etc.
