I spoke to John, and I'm scheduled to come out and train with you all as soon as the holidays and our meet (USAPL Rhode Island this coming weekend) are over. I'm sure I'll learn a tremendous amount. When is your next meet? Is it John's, or the IPA meet in Jan. that I'm scheduled to do? Thanks.

Good to hear man! I am not planning on competing until the spring or so. I will be at the meet next week helping out.

Still weird seeing you out of gear in here lol. Your raw strength seems to be improving well though!

Haha, tell me about it. It is very odd.

    275x1
    300x4x3 sets

Narrow stance high bar ATF squats(no belt)

    Leg curls

    Calf raises

    4 sets of 12-15

    Abs

    6 sets of 10-15

    Treadmill- 1.75 miles

Good session. I bumped my work weight up 20 lbs from last week and it felt just as easy. I decided to just do 1 set of narrow stance afterwards, but bumped it 15 lbs and hit a couple extra reps. That set was easy as well. Next week I will make the same bumps.

Squats are looking great, bro! Looks like you just keep moving steadily forward with everything. I get beat up pretty quick from heavy lifting as well, although I can't compare it to gear because I've always trained raw. It's like the higher I climb with weight, the more often I need a deload. You ever feel that way?

Haha easy big fella, that's too much volume for me. I am still trying to get used to what I am doing. Those 4 total worksets with both types of squats makes me sore...even though none are near failure. The treadmill is moreso because I am not working or playing softball or anything now and I just want to make sure I am doing something other than just lifting. I don't want to be getting winded walking around the jobsite because I haven't been doing anything.

Yea, but like I said...for me it hits me quicker raw than it ever did in gear. I just feel beat up more often.

    Bench

    Bench press(middle finger on rings)

    135x3

    205x4x3 sets

    Flat DB press

    55'sx8
    70'sx8
    80'sx8x3 sets

    Bench press(same grip)

    135x20

Tried to superset that with dips and got 5 reps, lol. Never tried that before and don't think I will again.

    CSR

    3 sets of 10

    Face pulls

    3 sets of 12

    Tricep pushdowns

    3 sets of 15

    Curls

    3 sets of 10-20

    Treadmill- 1.25 miles

Tried to take it a bit easy today. I think I may stick with something like this for Thursday's and bump the weight up slow. Just a few worksets with a moderate weight similar to my squat workouts and then hit the assistance work more like bodybuilder type stuff. Sunday I will hit stuff like floor presses, lockouts, etc. Tomorrow I will pull and then Sat I will be helping out at the meet we are running.

Nice workout, Chris. I hear you about not getting winded around the job site. I probably need to add in a little cardio myself.

Benching looks good, especially the db pressing.

Thanks man. I guess a little cardio can't hurt us, just don't turn into one of those marathon runners or crossfitters, lol.

So, Friday I was hired for my first job as an Ironworker. I worked 11 hours on Friday and then another 13 today. I left the house @5:30 AM and got home @9:30. Tomorrow I will leave the house@ 5:30 again and I will work another 10-13 hours probably. I am going to be spent so no training this weekend. I will see if I still have work after this weekend and if not I will be back to normal training on Monday. This is definitely going to be a challenge to fit the gym in with this type of work. Overtime days will be impossible...the days I have work+school will be impossible and the regular days I might feel so beat up it would be counter-productive to train. I will just have to take it on a day to day basis from here and see how I adjust.

At least I am finally making some $$$. All overtime this whole weekend.

Glad to see you're making some cash flow Chris. It gets a little tricky trying to balance work, school, and training, I'm sure you know that.

Congratz on the new job! And the cash flow! It make take you a bit to get your routine back, but that's like any time you have a big change. Things will start to fall into place and pretty soon, training, work, life will all be routine again.

Thanks for the support fellas! I still haven't been to the gym. I have worked everyday since Friday with overtime and I had school tonight after work. Tomorrow I have work and then school again. If there is no overtime on Thursday/Friday I will see if I can get back to the gym. Carrying and moving around heavy ass pieces of steel all day sure isn't going to make me any weaker though.

First time back in the gym in 11 days!! I was working like crazy and then I got a nasty cold from being out in the balls cold everyday. Still lingering a little bit, but they sent us home this morning because they hadn't cleared the snow out yet where we are working, so I decided to get back in the gym.

    Tricep pushdowns

Not anything great, but not terrible considering the layoff and being sick. I will find out in the morning if I have work or not. Depends on if the MTA gets the station cleared or not. I have school at night, but will prob train if I don't have work. We'll see.

I checked out a new commercial gym in Queens near my school. It is actually awesome, way better than the Gold's I train at now. More benches, dumbells up to 150's, 1 power rack and 3 half racks, tons of hammer strength equipment, a huge rock wall that you can climb whenever you want, a boxing ring and just tons of space/equipment. This is 5 mins from my school and in Queens(most of my jobs will be in the Brooklyn/Queens area). It just makes sense to me to join a gym out there because after working and/or going to school and then commuting home I am shot and most likely will not have time/energy to go train. If I train immediately after school/work and then commute home later(in less traffic) it just seems to work out better.

Well, they gave me a guest pass so I will prob train there tomorrow after I work a half day and then I will decide if I am going to join. Right now I am leaning towards yes.

    I am turning 30 in 2 days....holy **** I am old!!!
