    I felt like crap coming in. Long weekend with two weddings and lots of drinking. I also had to go to a big rally in NYC today to support my Union. I got to the gym late and just felt totally shot. That being said, I was shocked with my wide grip. I hadn't tried to go heavy with that grip in a while since it felt like crap. Since the close grips felt a little weak today and I had a liftoff guy, I decided to try some wide grip and I actually smoked 265.

    I trained last week, but no update. Squatted for the first time in 3 weeks. Went ok, not too much knee discomfort. I did a pause bench of 260x1 and 230x3 a day after doing a close-grip session where I did 4 sets of 5 with 225 and some down sets(don't ask why I did them consecutive days). So I picked a date to do a meet this weekend and it will be Feb 12th. It will most likely be the Candass Classic @Iron Asylum Gym, just because I love those guys and want to support their meets. I will compete in just a belt/wraps. I have 12 weeks to prepare, which is plenty. Hopefully my lifts will be semi-respectable by then. I have some numbers in my head, but I will see how training goes over the next few months.

    I have been battling a cold for a week. Feeling kinda like crap. I decided to skip this squat session last night and rest. Felt a little better today and got it done. I wrote a 12-week cycle up for the meet I wanna do and this was the first week. I have a long way to go to get where I want to be. Not sure if 12 weeks is gonna cut it, but I will bust my ass and see where I end up. Either way, this will be my first ever meet competing in belt+wraps, so I really just need to do it and see where I stand total-wise.

    Yes, haven't been training on Saturdays though.


    Trained on Thursday and Friday this week. After benching heavy on Monday, I had a random knot form in my left pec the next day or so. It started out with a small bruise near it and now the bruise has grown bigger and darker. Since that happened I have benched and squatted without discomfort, so I am really not sure what the hell it is. I guess I will see if it goes away or changes in the next few days and if need be I will get it checked out.

    Squats were very frustrating. Still feel like I am being held back by my knee. I have squatted 315x8 with no belt and 365x5 with a belt. Now I would need wraps to make those lifts and they still wouldn't be easy. I guess I should be happy enough that the wraps do help a lot and that with some work I can prob get back where I was(455 in belt/wraps).

    Deadlifts felt good. Got some volume triples on the sldl and then worked up singles with a belt. I am going to keep squats and deads on the same day for a while and see if that helps me recover better. It also allows me the choice of doing this workout either on Friday night or Saturday afternoon without effecting my other training days.

    I am also going to be trying to do some form of quad work, hence the light squats at the end. I was really trying those to test my knee out, as it seams the narrower I go the more pain I get. These were ok and I will hopefully work them up slowly. Its funny, all those sets were reallly easy(as they should be with no weight) but my quads were cramping after them since they never get used, lol. So ridiculous, but hopefully increasing those will build some quad strength and maybe help to stabilize my knee better. We shall see.

    Had a few crappy weeks of training. The week of Christmas I was really sick and didn;t get in the gym for an 8 day span. Last week I came back and did a few light session, tried to squat on Friday. I had slipped in an icy parking lot the night before and my knee was killing me. Needless to say it was killing me trying to squat. The empty bar even hurt. I tried to work up, but it wasn't happening. So I decided a few days ago to just start a new training cycle over.
