    The deadlift was GRIMEY!!! I was shaking like a bastard, but I squeezed through it to lock it out. After that I did some free squats for the first time in months. They actually felt ok and 300 went up nice. Next week I would like to squat before pulling and see how I feel with spotters/monolift as I lifted alone tonight.

    It's been a few weeks. I was on vacation and didn't go to the gym for 11 days! I think that is a PR for me, lol. Before I went on vacation I hit a 400 squat in belt/wraps and did a paused close grip bench with 260. That was the first attempt at a free squat in months, so I was happy wit the effort. The bench was kinda to see where I was at. Planning on doing a meet over the summer in belt/wraps. Back in the gym tonight.

    Went to an APF meet being run near my gym by Shawna Mendelson. I was one of the judges. Good meet, lots of young lifters, lots of raw...which is easier to judge IMO. My buddy Lenny sucked all the way down to 178 and ended the day pulling 600 raw to total over 1300 with just a belt. Some 18 yr old tiny little asian chick pulled 290 raw, with no belt and OH hook grip! It was sick! She can pull over 300 for sure!

    Hook grip is crazy man. I worked up to 485 x 1 with it, killed my thumbs, haha. I'm a pussy. Oh well. Great set Chris, awesome stuff.

    Yea it hurts like a motha! The worst part is it basically ruins the rest of my workout since I can't grab anything afterwards, lol. Not really sure if I will keep messing with it or not.

    I am just getting back to raw squatting and not only do I feel piss weak, but my legs are sore as F***!!! I had just squatted two days earlier, but I just grinded through the set anyway. I will just keep doing it til hopefully it gets better, lol. Today I had my first double-header in softball. Started off sucking, but finished strong with a double, triple and homerun. Playing on my other team tomorrow night after work and the gym. Long day!

    Just a single away from the cycle, nice work Chris. Solid lifting as well. Squats always suck after getting back under the bar, I'd imagine it's similar after going back to raw, anything over 5 reps for me and I'm toast.

    Haha, I hear ya buddy. Good job with school! Between work, sitting in traffic, school and the gym I don't spend as much time on here either. I have read some of your entries and was blown away how far your strength has come. Putting up bench numbers raw that you used to be struggling to hit in the shirt! I am still attempting to get myself ready to do a meet in belt+wraps if my knee will cooperate. Hopefully this summer.

    Tried to take it kinda easy that session because @6:45 AM on Saturday I had to go into my apprentice school for a physical test/torture thing they came up with. We did 40 minutes of calisthenics which damn near killed me. All kinds of pushups and ab movements, bodyweight squats and lunges. It was ridiculous and that was our warmup for what we were actually getting times/counted for. After that we had to run like ~1 1/4 miles, do as many pushups as possible in one shot and then climb up the big ass column we have in the school. Somehow I got through it all with decent numbers, but today is 3 days later and I still have the deepest burning soreness in my triceps and calves. WTF!!??

    I did like a hundred sets of deadlifts, but that was the only one worth mentioning. I had a very long week of work+school. I was totally exhausted today and was just gonna pass out when I got home. Talked myself into going to the gym and somehow squeezed out a rep PR. Tomorrow I plan on going back and getting some work in.
