The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I want to do some reps in the shirt. My PR off the chest with my current setup is 355x1. I think I will try and do 3x3 with 325 or so. We'll see how things go.
Whatever you do, try and get some of your next heavy bench session video taped.

I definitely will. I always forget on bench day.

    4/24
    Raw/gear squat

    RAW squat(wide stance)

    1@105x3
    1@145x3
    1@195x1
    1@235x2
    1@285x3(belt)

    (Add Ace briefs)

    1@325x1
    1@415x1(belt)
    1@475x5(knee wraps...pretty sure this is a PR)

Zerchers(RAW/no belt/each rep down to the lower quad area and back up)

    1@135x5
    1@185x1
    1@225x1
    1@275x1
    1@315x5(sick PR)

That was it. My raw zercher absolutely owns my raw squat. I decided tonight that squatting in gear directly after squatting RAW is awkward and I don't like it. Soooooo, I decided that I will squat RAW only for 2 weeks and than the third week I will squat in gear. On that third week I will do some lighter, high rep RAW work after the heavy gear stuff. We'll see if I stick to that and if it works. I think I'm gonna work those zerchers up heavier if my forearms/elbows can handle it. Those are nasty and really hit my hips, back, legs and abs hard. I'll post a few vids later.

We got all of our bands from Elite Fitness. They are expensive, yes, but they rock.

    4/26
    Bench assistance

    Decline press

    1@095x15
    1@135x8
    1@185x5
    1@225x5
    1@250x2
    1@270xmiss(horrible groove)
    1@270x1(easy/matches PR)
    1@195x15(PR)

    Flat DB press

    1@60'sx5
    1@80'sx3
    1@90'sx6
    1@80'sx11

    Floor press(pinky on line)

(all sets done with 4 sets of chain)

    1@045x5
    1@095x2
    1@135x1
    1@095x8
    1@095x7

    Seated DB press

    1@40'sx17(shoulders and triceps were shot!)

Lying rear delt machine- 3 sets

Good day today with a small crew. My declines feel stronger than ever. The second 270 went up real smooth. I think I definitely could have doubled it and perhaps hit 280. I didn't do pauses on the dumbells this time and I have no clue if those are PR's or not, but they went pretty well. The Floor presses with chains really killed my triceps and delts so I was shot for the shoulder presses.

The plan for Saturday is to do box squats, speed pulls, SLSDL and some back assistance.

nice floor presses with chains tooo - i think i need to put floor presses into my workout somtime soon
Way down this road, in a gym far away, a young man was once heard to say, "I've repped high and I've repped low, No matter what I do my legs won't grow."

He tried leg extensions, leg curls, and leg presses, too. Trying to cheat these sissy workouts he'd do. From the corner of the gym where the big men train, Through a cloud of chalk and the midst of pain.

Where the big iron rides high and threatens lives, Where the noise is made with big forty fives. A deep voice bellowed as he wrapped his knees, A very big man with legs like trees.

Laughing as he snatched another plate from the stack, Chalking his hands and monstrous back, Said "Boy stop lying and don't say you've forgotten, Trouble with you is you ain't been SQUATTIN"

great stuff in here Chris. Those are some mean floor presses. The zerchers were crazy, as well, but that goes without saying.

    TY peoples

    4/28
    Speed sq/dl

    Box squat(SSB)

(Warmed up on 15" box RAW)

    2@115x5
    1@155x3
    1@205x2

    (Add old Metal Pros/14" box)

    1@245x2
    2@275x2(belt)
    2@295x2
    2@315x2

    (13" box)

    1@275x2
    1@295x2
    1@315x2

    Speed pulls...turned heavy(Conventional/Raw/belt)

    5@315x1
    1@405x1
    1@455x1
    2@405x3
    1@405x5

    BB rows(overhand/wide grip)

    1@135x8
    1@185x8
    2@205x8

    Cable rows(underhand)- 3 sets of 8

Pull thrus- 3 sets of 10

    Abs- 3 sets

During the box squats, especially off the 13" box I thought my hips were gonna pop out. I almost considered bringing my stance in, but then I just laughed at myself for even thinking it. I managed to get through those sets and was supposed to just do like 8-10 speed singles on deadlift. I decided to work up a bit. 410x5 is my all-time conventional PR. I pulled 405x5 at the very end of a bunch of sets and it wasn't too bad. I think I can pull 8 reps or so if I tried it fresher. I seem to be getting quicker at the top...which is what I need. I have to make sure when I get to the heavy stuff that I throw my hips forward hard at the top.
